On Saturday, 17 January 2026, we had the privilege of hosting our first Black Belt training session of the year with Shihan Michael Dukas.

It was an honour to begin the year with such a high-level and meaningful training opportunity.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Piketberg Dojo for joining us and for travelling such a considerable distance to train together.

The training was insightful and challenging, and it has prepared us well for the journey that lies ahead in 2026.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Sensei Jan Marx and Elsabé for making this training possible.

Let us work together to make 2026 a successful and impactful year for karate.

Train hard, remain focused, strive for excellence, and never give up.

🌏 The World Shotokan Karate-Do Federation W.S.K.F. – Spotlight on Sensei Michael Dukas (8th Dan, South Africa)

A respected Shihankai member and Chief Instructor of World Shotokan Karate-Do Federation - South Africa, Sensei Michael Frank Dukas has dedicated more than five decades to the art of karate-dō.
Beginning his training in 1969, he graded to 8th Dan in Tokyo on 16 August 2017, under the guidance of Kasuya Shihan.

As a lifelong practitioner and teacher, Sensei Dukas continues to uphold the pure spirit of traditional Shotokan — focusing on strong technique, disciplined character, and the unbreakable bond between instructor and student.

His favourite saying, “Karate Fixes Everything,” reflects a lifetime of experience in how training shapes not only skill, but spirit.
