Over 4,600 South Africans were treated for gambling addiction last year.

The year before, it was around 2,600.

That’s not just growth.

At the same time, government is looking to introduce a 20% tax on online gambling profits — partly to curb harm, partly to increase revenue.

So the question becomes:

If more people are only getting help at crisis point…
