The excitement is building as we approach the 42nd National Funakoshi Cup , two days of high-level karate, spirited competition and the coming together of the Funakoshi family from across South Africa.

On 28–29 August 2026, Durban will come alive with the energy of competitors, coaches, officials, families and supporters, all united by a shared passion for Karate-do.

From powerful Kata performances to dynamic Kumite battles, the tournament promises skill, determination, sportsmanship and memorable moments on the national stage.

What a moment. What a journey. What a proud day for our club!

Yesterday, seven of our outstanding female athletes departed Durban for Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where they will make their international debut as official members of the WUKF South African National Team! 🇿🇦✈️🇷🇴

Seeing our girls at the airport, standing together and proudly wearing their official South African national team kit, was a moment that will forever be etched into the history of Shiro Karate.
