Your mind is your strongest muscle.

Have you ever thought;
"I'm not sure I want to do this."?

Maybe before a workout or before reading this?

We've all been there and sometimes it takes a little more willpower to get past the thought.

Your body can help you.

Exercise helps our brain to ignore distractions.

The willpower it takes to push through the pain of a workout is the same as the discipline to ignore distractions and keep going.

A little motivation that helps me;
who I will become and what I've learned and accomplished will all be because of what I've chosen to pay attention to this year.

So, next time you need a little push, think about where you'll be if you ignore the distraction and choose to keep going.

Prioritise yourself. Take time for ‘You.

Paulo Coelho wrote,

“When you say ‘yes’ to others, make sure you are not saying ‘no’ to yourself.

Self-care starts with self and your physical and mental health is a priority.

I hope this year you take time to prioritise yourself to focus on what you would like to achieve this year. May it be to be more physically active, to be more rested or to achieve more in your marriage, relationship or work.

Whatever your goal for 2022 might be, I believe in you. This is your time.

There will always be things that are out of our control. They are what they are. They are immovable. Stop thinking about it.

Worrying about the future represents anxiety. Worrying about the things that already happened i.e., the past represent depression.

We can’t do anything about the past or the future. What we have is now and the means to change it.

Take that first step.

Put ‘You’ first.

It's the silly 🤪🌟season but don’t forget

😊💦Hydrate and give your body time to rest.

Remember, injury is your body’s way of telling you to stop, listen, back off, chill out.

There is going to be a lot of celebrations so keep in mind the number one way of flushing toxins 🤢out of the body is by drinking water. 💦

But also,

Effort equals results. If you put in the effort, you will see results.

Keep yourself accountable.If you have a specific goal you would like to reach, keep yourself accountable for choices you make.

Be self-aware. ❤️ You’re older now. (I say this with ❤️)

And HAVE FUN!!🤓🤩🥳

Happy holidays!!

Move.
Since lockdown, you might have realised you need to do a lot more self-care.
As you've gotten older, you also might realise you are not moving as well and need to do more stretching.
Look after yourself. Work on what you have now.
You hate eating healthy. You have a healthy beating heart. Do so for your heart.
You hate to exercise. You have a happy family. Do so to keep moving with them.
Take the pressure off. Don’t beat yourself up for not moving earlier.
Your goal does not have to be a marathon; it can be putting up a tent with your children with no lower back pain.
You don’t have to be a runway model, but you can feel more confident.
So going into this year. Make your goal simply move.
Move to stay young. Move to feel sexier. Move to keep moving.

I got asked if I adapt my diet when training for a race. I don’t.
To tell you a little secret, when I get cravings, I enjoy them too.😏
I do maintain a wholesome diet to ensure my body functions optimally. ( I am a personal trainer. 😁) But I don’t restrict myself.
Give in to the craving. 😉❤️ This year has been tough enough.

What should my ❤️heart rate be?
There is no right or wrong answer.
Many of my clients arrive at my studio with the newest, latest technology that can help them monitor their heart rate during exercise. They always ask, what should my heart rate be?
To understand your heart rate, over a couple of weeks, you need to;
Measure;
During a session, measure your heart rate at a specific point in time. How did you feel when you measured it? Were you working at an 8/10?
Note your 8/10.
In your next session, at your 8/10, measure it again.
Repeat for a couple of weeks, and over time you will have an average.
Do the same during average daily activities.
Know your body;
You'll get to know what is going on in your body. For instance, an above-average heart rate while doing daily activities could indicate your body is fighting something, and you might be getting sick.
Understand;
When it comes to the devices, understand accuracy.
Follow the best practices for how they need to be worn (tight, above the knuckle, on your wrist or chest).
Accuracy can be affected by skin tone, hair, moles, and freckles.
Two people wearing the same model watch or HR sensor can have different levels of accuracy.
Lastly, remember;
you're perfect. ❤️
