All packed up for the last time on this trip 😭😭.
Tonight we have the luxury of a hotel before a quick stop off in the morning at the trailer repair shop then home .
So sad to be leaving soon , Southern Africa has a very special place in our hearts .

Mapungubwe .
Absolutely beautiful scenery with some of the biggest Baobab trees we’ve ever seen .
Baobabs have been known to live for over 3000 years , they have spongy, fibrous wood that acts like a massive sponge. A single large trunk can store over \(100,000\) litres of water, serving as a vital lifeline for both wildlife and indigenous communities during dry seasons.

WHAT A DAY 🙈
So the 6 hour travel day turned into 9 hours !
Botswana to South Africa boarder was CRAZY ! Trucks backed up for miles & utter chaos!
After getting 50km into South Africa we shredded one of our nice new tyres on the gravel road , middle of nowhere, only to find the spare tyre had a large padlock on ……. We didn’t have a key !
Our guardian angels appeared with an angle grinder …. (Because this is South Africa & there’s always “ a plan “ 🤣)
We finally got near our campsite when we came across someone with a trailer whose tyres had also been eaten by the rough road so paid forward the earlier kindness & helped them on their way as they had no tools.
A “ laugh or you’ll cry” sort of day 🤣

Still a distance to Johannesburg .

Our last morning in Botswana before we make the 6 hour drive to mapungubwe in South Africa to make camp for tonight .
Botswana has been a real treat , people are WONDERFUL, funny & welcoming, the wildlife is fantastic & it feels safe . Botswana is a warm hug …. With lions ! 🤣
This will be our 3rd & final boarder crossing but I’m sure we’ll be back to Botswana again in the future.
