SAFA ANNOUNCED THE NEW BAFANA BAFANA HEAD COACH, DR. PITSO MOSIMANE.

The wait is over. One of South Africa's most accomplished and respected football coaches is officially back at the helm of Bafana Bafana.

Congratulations to Coach Pitso Mosimane on his appointment as the new head coach of South Africa's senior men's national football team.

The last time Coach Pitso Mosimane led Bafana Bafana as permanent head coach was between 2010 and 2012. Fourteen years later, he returns to the national team with a wealth of experience and a coaching journey that has taken him to the very top of African club football.

Since leaving Bafana Bafana, his journey has been nothing short of remarkable.

🏆 Five South African league titles with Mamelodi Sundowns FC
🏆 CAF Champions League winner with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016
🏆 Two CAF Champions League titles with Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC
🏆 CAF Super Cup success
🏆 Egyptian league and cup success with Al Ahly
🏆 Saudi First Division title with Al Ahli Saudi FC

His journey has also taken him beyond South Africa and Egypt, with coaching experiences in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Iran.

Pitso Mosimane returns to Bafana Bafana not as the same coach who left in 2012, but as a coach who has experienced the highest levels of African football, managed some of the continent's biggest clubs and won under immense pressure.

And perhaps that is what makes this appointment so exciting.

Experience matters. Growth matters. And the ability to learn from every chapter matters.

Bafana Bafana has made significant progress in recent years, and Coach Pitso now takes over a team that carries the hopes and expectations of a football-loving nation. The challenge is great, but so is the experience he brings.

We also look forward to seeing the full technical team that will work alongside him. An assistant coach has not yet been officially announced, and while many football supporters have suggested Helman Mkhalele as a possible candidate, we will wait for the official announcement from SAFA.net - South African Football Association before drawing conclusions.

For now, we celebrate a proud moment for South African football.

From a young coach developing his craft, to conquering Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, to gaining experience across different football cultures, the journey has now brought him back to where it all began.

Welcome back, Coach Pitso Mosimane. 🇿🇦

The nation is behind you. The journey continues. And a new chapter for Bafana Bafana begins.

TSSD IS OPEN FOR COLLABORATIONS

Great things happen when communities come together.

Our mission has always been bigger than sport. We believe that sport has the power to bring people together, inspire young people, create opportunities and help develop stronger communities.

As we continue our journey, including preparations for TSAFT2026, we would like to open our doors to individuals, businesses and organisations who would like to join us in making a difference.

We are open to collaborating with:

1. Artists and entertainers who would like to perform and showcase their talent during TSAFT2026.

2. Photographers and videographers who would like to help us capture and tell the stories of our athletes and communities.

3. Businesses and entrepreneurs looking for partnership, sponsorship or activation opportunities.

4. Organisations and NGOs interested in collaborating on community and youth development initiatives.

5. Individuals and businesses willing to donate products, services, equipment or resources.

6. Sports enthusiasts and professionals who would like to contribute their skills, knowledge and experience.

7. Members of the public who simply believe in what we are doing and would like to be part of the journey.

Whether you are based in Moletjie, Polokwane, elsewhere in Limpopo or beyond, there is a place for everyone who shares our vision. You don't always need to have millions to make a difference.

A small contribution can provide an opportunity.
One connection can open a door.
One donated item can make a difference.
One partnership can change a life.

Every little bit goes a long way.

We invite everyone who believes in the power of sport, unity and community development to join us in our quest to create opportunities and develop our communities through sport.

Would you like to collaborate, partner, sponsor, donate or contribute your services?

SETATI CALLIES ON ONE REMARKABLE JOURNEY.

Join us as we congratulate Setati Callies FC Under-13 on being crowned Champions of the 2026 Polokwane Champ of Champs Tournament.

What makes this achievement even more special is the journey these young footballers have taken to get here.

At the Champ of Champs Tournament, Setati Callies defeated Jungle FC 1–0, before overcoming Kaiser XI FC 2–1 on penalties after a goalless match. In the final, they once again showed incredible composure, defeating Napoli FC 2–0 on penalties following another 0–0 draw.

CELEBRATING SOUTH AFRICAN SPORTING EXCELLENCE

The Crowned by Greatness.

Last night, South Africa came together at the 19th South African Sport Awards at Sun City to celebrate the athletes, teams, coaches, administrators, officials, volunteers and sporting professionals who continue to put our nation on the map.

The awards, hosted under the theme “Crowned by Greatness”, recognised achievements from the 2025 sporting year across 19 categories, highlighting that sporting excellence goes far beyond what happens on the field.

A special congratulations to all the winners across the 19 categories, including those recognised for administration, volunteering, journalism, technical officiating, disability sport, recreation and community sport.

These awards are an important reminder that every champion has a starting point. Behind every national star is a coach who believed, a volunteer who gave their time, a community that provided support and often a grassroots programme that opened the first door.

To every athlete, coach, official, administrator, volunteer and sports developer who continues to contribute to the growth of South African sport, we see you, we celebrate you and we salute you.

Congratulations to all the 19th South African Sport Awards winners. May your achievements inspire the next generation to dream bigger, work harder and believe that greatness can come from anywhere.

WOMEN IN SPORTS

As we look back at some of the women’s sports moments from TSAFT, we are reminded that our tournament has always been about more than just competition. It is about creating opportunities, developing talent and using the power of sport to develop our communities.

As part of our commitment to giving more women and teams an opportunity to participate, TSAFT2025 saw us increase the number of women’s soccer teams from 4 to 8. Doubling the number of participating teams was an important step in creating a bigger platform for women to showcase their talent, compete and be seen.

We believe that women’s sports deserves investment, visibility and meaningful opportunities to grow. This is why women’s soccer and netball remain an important part of the TSAFT programme and our broader commitment to inclusion in sport.

We are proud to contribute, in our own way, to the continued development of women participating in sport and to support the broader vision of growing opportunities for women’s football in South Africa.

More teams. More opportunities. More talent. More dreams.

And we are not stopping here. Loadinggg

MORE THAN JUST SPORT

When we look back at moments like this, we are reminded that TSAFT has always been about more than soccer and netball.

Through the years, the Tlou Segolela Annual Festive Tournament has been a platform where sport, arts, culture, entertainment and community development come together. We believe in using the power of sport to bring people together, create opportunities, celebrate local talent and contribute towards building stronger communities.

Shout out to Makhi Skits, who have consistently supported our events over the years. Partnerships like these remind us that community development cannot happen in isolation , it takes all of us.

Sport. Arts. Culture. Community.
This is what we mean when we say: “Developing Communities Through Sports.”

And as we look towards TSAFT2026, we remain committed to creating a platform where everyone has a place to participate, express themselves, showcase their talent and be part of something bigger.

MY VOICE BOOK LAUNCH

On 8 August 2026, Tlou Segolela Sports Development had the privilege of attending the My Voice: Stories of Resilience and Hope Book Launch and Community Dialogue, written by Maletsema Bridget Ramokone and hosted by the Lentswe Laka Foundation at Land Rover Polokwane

The event was more than just a book launch. It created an important platform for meaningful conversations around Gender-Based Violence (GBV), justice, protection, survivors’ rights, healing and the responsibility of communities to take action.

We were honoured to be part of a gathering that brought together different stakeholders, including representatives from South African Police Service, the National Prosecuting Authority, social workers, civil society and traditional leadership.

The event was also attended by traditional leadership delegates from the Moletsi Traditional Council, whose presence reaffirmed the important role traditional leaders can play in community development, awareness and creating safer communities.

We believe that sport is more than competition. Sport brings people together, creates platforms for dialogue and can be a powerful tool for social development and positive change.

Our involvement in this initiative reflects our commitment to expanding our work beyond the sporting field and contributing towards communities where women and girls feel safe, heard, respected and supported.

We would love to see the creation of safe spaces for women and girls within our communities, where they can speak openly, access information, find support and raise awareness about issues affecting them without fear of judgement or stigma.

We believe that addressing GBV requires all of us, families, communities, traditional leaders, organisations, law enforcement, government, civil society and the sporting fraternity, to play our part.

Our appreciation goes to Lentswe Laka Foundation for creating this important platform and for allowing TSSD to walk alongside them in this journey.

Breaking the silence is only the beginning. The real work is creating awareness, providing support and turning conversations into action.
