Ufudu Flyfishing

Our 4th trip to the northern atolls of the Maldives was defined by strong winds from the east, cloudy conditions and rain. Despite these testing conditions guest landed some very good fish. Reghard du Toit’s 93 cm GT that he sight casted to in the surf was special. So was the proper bluefin that Mike Merry landed in very rough conditions. Several good bones were caught by John Shaw and Reghard. Well done to all for good fish caught in tough conditions.

Hard work pays off for the van Rooyen men during the last days of their Ufudu Fly fishing trip to the Maldives. Last fish was a 112cm GT caught by Wouter van Rooyen. Well done on a bus of a fish👏👏😎

A few of the good fish landed in the Maldives during our first two trips of the 2023 season. Special high fives to Roelof and his father Philip van Rooyen for sight casting and landing an 80 & 100 cm respectively GT in the surf zone. The bus of a titan that Callum Scott landed is also a fish to feel very proud of 👏👏

Some of the fish landed on trip 5 of our 2022 season to the Maldives. Mike Merry also landed 2 permit and a bone on the last day but did not have a camera with him. Happy guests despite some unseasonal bad weather😎

Our third 10 night trip to the Maldives produced a good number of very good/ big bones which is very encouraging. Only 1 GTS sadly with a monster wrecking a fly line on the reef . All said a very good trip

Fishing the early morning rips at Lala Neck during a Ufudu workshop Dwight Thompson, Brandon Hyde, Jef Davies and Kevin Olive landed Bluefin, big eye and brassies kingies. Well done to all.
