It was so nice to finally do a guided trip for the first time since Lockdown. We had a fantastic morning of birding at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens managing to see most of the specials that Kirstenbosch has to offer. These included some cape endemics, Cape Sugarbird, Cape Spurfowl and Cape Bulbul being some of them. We managed to see Common Chaffinch, which can only be seen in Cape Town in South Africa. Another special bird for Cape Town, the Bronze Mannikin, where plentiful. The population of these birds are growing in Cape Town and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is probably the best place to find them. The beautiful little Swee Waxbills were easily seen but tricky to photograph. Another highlight was a Booted Eagle that flew over us as well as a great view of a Spotted Eagle Owl. I certainly don't regard myself as a photographer but here are a few shots I took. I am currently running some highly discounted specials. Feel free to contact me for further information.

During a trip to Cape Point we will certainly visit Chapman's Peak and view the last Leopard of Hout Bay. A sad reminder of the wildlife that once called these mountains home. Luckily this area, especially Cape Point provides a safe haven for the last large mammals of the Cape Peninsula.

For many, the bronze leopard statue that overlooks Hout Bay is a mysterious feature that adds to its beauty. The story behind this iconic landmark, however, is far more solemn.
