As part of our exco engagements in Limpopo Province, South Africa this past week, members of the executive committee took time to visit the Polokwane Shooting Centre.

The visit provided an opportunity for team members to spend time at the shooting range, sharpening their skills while strengthening relationships beyond the boardroom.

The experience fostered teamwork, camaraderie, and meaningful engagement in a relaxed environment.

Moments like these continue to reinforce the importance of building strong connections as we work together to advance the vision and objectives of SABHSSA.

𝗦𝗔𝗕𝗛𝗦𝗦𝗔 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗠𝗘𝗖 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗘𝗗𝗘𝗧 - 𝗗𝗿. 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝘀𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗸𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗲.

The South African Black Hunters and Sport Shooting Association (SABHSSA) Executive had the privilege of meeting with the MEC, Dr Matibe of the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET) and to discuss matters of mutual interest relating to conservation, sustainable hunting, biodiversity management, and the growth of the hunting and wildlife economy in the province.

The engagement provided an important platform to strengthen collaboration between government and industry stakeholders, explore opportunities for transformation and skills development, and reaffirm a shared commitment to responsible and sustainable natural resource management.

SABHSSA appreciates the MEC and LEDET leadership for the constructive discussions and looks forward to continued partnerships that will benefit conservation efforts, local communities, and the broader wildlife sector.

Women play an important role in hunting and conservation.

Their involvement strengthens wildlife management, promotes ethical and sustainable practices, and helps nurture the next generation of conservation leaders.

By participating in the sector, women bring valuable skills and perspectives that support conservation efforts, food security, and the responsible use of natural resources. Increased participation also creates opportunities for skills development, hunting tourism, and economic growth that benefit local communities.

In South Africa, hunting is a regulated privilege governed by legislation and industry standards, making responsible participation essential to the sustainability of the sector.

SABHSSA invites women who are interested in hunting, wildlife management, conservation, or who simply have a passion for wildlife to become members in good standing.

The 2026 Best Practice Workshop aims to bring together SABHSSA members, industry stakeholders, and members of the public to promote professionalism, strengthen regulatory compliance, and uphold ethical standards within South Africa’s hunting and conservation sector.

The workshop serves as a platform for constructive engagement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration on best practices that support responsible hunting, sustainable wildlife utilisation, conservation stewardship, and public accountability across the industry.
