Winter, good company, and treasured memories await! ❄️🧺

July has always been a special month for the Sabres family, as it marks the birthday of our beloved founder, Eddie Compton.

This year, we thought there would be no better way to honour Eddie than by doing something he loved most — bringing people together. Eddie was never just passionate about hockey on the rink; he cherished the friendships, laughter, and sense of family that came with it. He loved a good Sabres get-together, surrounded by teammates, friends, and loved ones.

So, in celebration of Eddie’s first heavenly birthday, we invite you to join us for our annual Sabres Winter Picnic — a day dedicated to friendship, community, and the incredible club spirit that he helped build.

Enjoy delicious braai treats, cheese and wine, hockey-themed games, fishing, team-building activities, and plenty of family fun in the beautiful surroundings of Willow Park, Dowerglen.

Bring your picnic blankets, your favourite snacks and drinks, and your Sabres spirit. Whether you’ve been part of the club for years or have only recently joined our family, we’d love for you to be part of this special day.

Together we’ll share stories, create new memories, celebrate our Sabres family, and raise a glass to the man whose vision and passion brought so many of us together.

MAY RECAP 🔥🏒

What. A. Month. 💪🏼

May threw everything at us — back-to-back fixtures, long weekends at the rink, tough battles, big wins, hard lessons, overtime thrillers, and countless moments that reminded us why we love this game. ❤️

From our youngest players stepping onto the ice with confidence, to our ladies and senior divisions competing with heart, every Sabres team wore the jersey with pride. Across five packed weekends, our players, coaches, managers, officials, volunteers, and families showed incredible commitment, turning up week after week and giving everything they had.✨

There were MVP performances, game-winning moments, milestone achievements, and players who quietly put in the work for their teammates every single shift. There were celebrations, hugs, fist bumps, and plenty of time spent cheering each other on from the stands.🥳

A schedule this busy isn’t easy. It takes dedication, sacrifice, and a club culture that keeps everyone moving in the same direction. Whether the result was a win or a loss, every game was an opportunity to grow, compete, and represent the Sabres badge with passion.

Thank you to every player, coach, volunteer, parent, supporter, manager, MVP and Hardest worker (HW), who helped make this incredible month possible. The numbers tell one story, but the memories, friendships, and experiences created throughout May tell an even bigger one. 💯
