Champ of Champions Tournament (Open Weight) Only two categories—Women and Men. No weight divisions. Fighting an opponent weighing 72kg while I weigh 57kgs…
This tournament marked yet another defining moment in my journey. I stepped onto the tatami to compete against some of the most skilled and technical women in the sport, with a weight difference of up to 14kg (57kg vs 72kg). It was a true test of courage, skill, and spirit.
It was an absolute honor to fight alongside and against top-tier fighters in South Africa. Sharing the tatami with athletes like Fundiswa Chiliza, a long-standing South African Women’s Open Division Champion and an exceptional technical fighter was a worthwhile experience.
The remarks made by Shihan Simphiwe Dlulane at the beginning of this video meant more than words can express. He is a leader who does not tolerate mediocrity—one of the greatest fighters and martial artists in the world, recognised for his skill, leadership, and remarkable achievements.
To receive acknowledgment from someone of his caliber is deeply humbling.
This reel captures the line-up, the purpose of the Champ of Champs tournament, fight highlights, and remarks from Shihans and Senseis, offering a full glimpse into the experience and significance of the event 🤗💪🏾
The Open Weight Champ of Champions tournament was developed by Shihan Simphiwe Dlulane, Kyokushin-Kan SA Country Representative, and took place in March 2025. Together with other leaders in the organisation, champions across Kyokushin-Kan were recognized and invited to take part in this prestigious event.
There was no fear—only growth.
And I look forward to becoming better and better 💪🏾🙌🏿
