KATHU & KURUMAN
Studente presteer by wêreld kampioenskappe

Die RCFAI (Ring Contact Fighting Arts International) Wêreld Kampioenskappe het die naweek van 3 tot 5 April 2026 plaasgevind by Emerald Casino, Tshogo Sun aan die oewer van die Vaal Rivier in Vanderbijlpark. Vier plaaslike studente wie verlede jaar Oktober gekwalifiseer het by RCFA Nasionale Kampioenskappe om as deel van die Presidensiële span, Suid-Afrika te verteenwoordig by die wêreld Kampioenskappe, het gedurende die byeenkoms hulle staal gewys.
Kyle Barendse, ‘n leerder by Hoërskool Kathu verwerf 1 goud, 2 silwer en 1 brons medalje. Die ander drie studente, almal leerders van Hoërskool Kalahari het ook uitmuntende uitslae. Estienne Scholtz verwerf 1 goud, 3 silwer en 1 brons, Harmony Evans verwerf 1 goud, 3 silwer en 2 brons en SJ Everts verwerf 3 silwer en 2 brons medaljes. Met hulle eerste plekke verower Kyle, Estienne en Harmony ook die titel as Wêreld Kampioen in hulle onderskeie afdelings. Kyle in “Sport Boxing”, Estienne in “Baton Fighting” en Harmony in “Close Combat”.
Bogenoemde uitslae is die gevolg van hierdie jong mense se toewyding, voorbereiding en maande se strawwe oefening onder leiding van oud-afrigter Sensei Rainer Jacobs en huidige Sensei Bennie Liebenberg van Radja Martial Arts (Hartswater en Vryburg). Die vier studente het sedert Januarie élke naweek 500 km afgelê om oefeninge by te woon.
Die klub is baie trots op die studente vir hulle uitsonderlike prestasies.

Ons is opgewonde om aan te kondig dat twee van ons eie leerders, SJ Everts en Harmony Evans, gekies is om Suid-Afrika te verteenwoordig as deel van die Presidensiële Span vir Ringkontak Vegkuns! 🇿🇦🥋

Dit is 'n ongelooflike prestasie en 'n bewys van hul harde werk, dissipline en toewyding.

SJ en Harmony, ons is so trots op julle! Hou aan skitter en dra die Kalahari-gees hoog op die nasionale verhoog. 💛❤️
