MTG Magua Taekwon-Do Group- Northriding MTG Martial arts provides quality, dynamic & all round martial arts training in the Northriding, Ran Welcome to Northriding Taekwon-Do!

We are a proud division of the MTG (Magua Taekwon-Do group)which is affiliated to TSA (Taekwon-Do South Africa) and is also recognised as part of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (I.T.F)

The Club has locations around Johannesburg and was started in 2001. Trainers

kids class is taught by Norman Magua 6th Dan and Tanya Magua 4th Dan. The adult/ teens class is headed by Richard Girvin 4th D

an. All being highly dedicated, experienced and passionate instructors. Classes

I.T.F Taekwon-Do was founded by General Choi Hong Hi in the 1950s. It was originally developed as a military self defense-based art, with a strong sense of tradition and respect. Modern Taekwon-Do encompasses not only the traditional art but also an over-all physical fitness with emphasis on precision, technique and speed. Classes cover a set syllabus for each belt level, from beginners to black belt, which includes patterns (set sequence of movements), traditional and competition sparring and street self-defence. Classes start with a light warm up to get the blood flowing and cover basic fitness. Each class covers different aspects of the syllabus, keeping it innovative and different. Students train and work towards their next belt level at their own individual pace and gradings/testing is done once students have learnt and fully understand their current syllabus. Bo-Sabum Richard will move students forward when he feels confident in their ability and skill. Grading’s give students something to work towards and a great sense of achievement. Northriding TKD caters for adults, teens and kids classes. Adults/Teens (13yrs up):

Monday: 19h00 – 20:15
Thursday 19h00 – 20:15

kids:

Friday: 15h30 (6yrs till 9yrs)
16h15 (10yrs till 14yrs)

Taekwon-Do has a multitude of health benefits – both physically and mentally and regular classes promote a healthy body, mind and spirit. Classes are fun and energetic and students will see a marked improvement in physical fitness, co-ordination and self-confidence. Northriding Taekwon-Do operates in all aspects in the pursuit of the five tenets of Taekwon-Do –

11th April 1955 marked a turning point in history. Seventy-one years later, we honour General Choi Hong Hi’s enduring vision of discipline, strength, and spirit.
