South Africa is heading to Alexandria, Egypt! 🇿🇦🏐

Volleyball South Africa (VSA) is proud to announce that Zeevah Pocock and Tatiana Simopoulos have been selected to represent South Africa at the 2026 African Continental Beach Volleyball Championships in Alexandria, Egypt. The tournament will bring together Africa's top beach volleyball teams and forms an important part of the international pathway towards future World Championships and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Under the guidance of internationally renowned Austrian coach Simon Nausch, the pair will proudly wear the South African colours as they compete against the continent's best.

This exciting partnership combines experience with emerging talent, with Tatiana currently recognised as one of South Africa's leading women's beach volleyball players and 16-year-old Zeevah regarded as one of the country's brightest young prospects. Their journey to Egypt marks another significant milestone for South African beach volleyball.

THAT'S A WRAP! | 2026 VSA Inter-Provincial Tournament – Finals Day Results

What an incredible day of volleyball at Wits University Old Mutual Sports Hall! Four finals, four champions, and memories that will last a lifetime. Here's how it all went down:

🥇 Junior Boys – Gauteng take the gold! A dominant performance from start to finish. Big respect to KZN for bringing the heat and never backing down.

🥇 Junior Girls – Gauteng continue their winning streak! These young stars showed us the future of SA volleyball is bright. Shout-out to Western Cape for pushing them every step of the way.

🥇 Senior Women – Gauteng complete the hat-trick! A masterclass in teamwork and determination. Massive credit to Western Cape for an epic battle you gave them a run for their money!

🥇 Senior Men – Limpopo rise to the top! What a statement performance to claim the crown. Huge appreciation to Western Cape for an intense, hard-fought final that had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Congratulations to all our winners! And a massive shout-out to every runner-up for the heart, grit, and sportsmanship you showed today.

SA Beach Volleyball stars on the European Beach Volleyball Tour.

South Africa's BVB hopefuls for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games began their preparations by competing in the intensely contested Prague National Grand Series in the Czech Republic on Monday 29 June.

Buoyed by the invaluable experience gained at the Czech National championship the SA duo head to Poland to make their debut in the FIVB Beach Pro Tour Futures, starting on 1st July in Rzezlaw.

According to VSA's Austrian Head Coach, Simon Nausch, Danilo and Thor are focused, eager to seek his expertise guidance and full of confidence.

Coach Simon went on to say that the European BVB circuit affords players from outside the European continent the opportunity to compete against some of the world's top professional beach volleyball. athletes, a learning experience to be savouredby the South Africans.

"While the players gain invaluable experience on the European BVB Tour that are the building blocks of success, however, adopting a fight back strategy of refusing to "roll over and playing dead" becomes their "mantra". to stay in the match.

Coach Simon said that their European Tour ends in Sweden when Danilo and Thor don the RSA colours at the FIVB Beach Pro Tour Futures to be staged in Malmo, in Sweden from 9 to 12 July.
The duo is assured that SA BVB fans will be rooting for them.

VSA President Anthony Mokoena added, "hard work and strictly following the coach's game plan for each encounter will bring the success the country yearns for despite the challenges the sport faces."

The President went on to say that Danilo and Thor will be given the desired support to achieve success at the African leg of the 2028 Olympic Games qualifier in August this year.

SOUTH AFRICA'S BEACH VOLLEYBALL DUO DEPART FOR EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN

Volleyball South Africa is proud to announce that Danilo von Ludwiger (25) and Thor Gyulai (18) have departed for Europe as part of an important international campaign aimed at gaining world-class experience and valuable FIVB World Ranking points.

The South African pair will begin their tour in Prague, where they will attend a high-performance training camp from 27–28 June under the guidance of national team coach Simon Nausch. During the camp, they will have the opportunity to train alongside members of the Czech national beach volleyball programme.

On 29 June, the duo will compete in a Czech National Beach Volleyball Tournament before travelling to Poland on 1 July to participate in the FIVB Beach Pro Tour Futures event in Rzezlaw.

The campaign will then continue with a training camp in Norway from 6–7 July, followed by participation in the FIVB Beach Pro Tour Futures – Malmö in Sweden from 9–12 July.

The primary objective of the tour is to maximise FIVB ranking points and strengthen South Africa's position in the CAVB Continental Cup qualification pathway, one of the routes towards qualification for the 2028 Summer Olympics.

This European campaign represents a significant step in the long-term development of South African beach volleyball and provides both athletes with invaluable exposure to elite international coaching and competition.

Volleyball South Africa wishes Danilo and Thor every success as they proudly represent the country on the international stage.

VSA’s JUNIOR & SENIOR IPT ACTION AT WITS UNIVERSITY

Wits University’s Old Mutual Sports Hall and Hall 29 will come alive with intensely contested encounters when Volleyball South Africa co-hosts its prestigious double gender Junior and Senior Inter-Provincial Tournament (IPT) with Gauteng Volleyball Union (GVU) from 7 to 11 July 2026.

The Competition’s Preliminary Enquiry and Technical Meetings take
place on 7 July at Garden Court Milpark from 16:00 to 20:00 (4pm to 8pm).

With GVU flying its flag, ‘’Return to Greatness’’, provinces and the public can be assured that the effervescent GVU President, Ms. Alexia Feiteira and her Executive members will pull out all the stops to deliver a classy event that will be etched on the hearts and minds of the teams and the spectators for years to come.

‘’There was a feeling of joyous excitement when I heard that provinces displayed an eagerness to give their athletes the opportunity to participate in this year’s IPT’’ said VSA President, Anthony Mokoena. Mr.Mokoena went on to say that he was pleased that it was all systems go for the event and that Gauteng Volleyball Union was ready to roll out the red carpet for the visiting teams before the ‘’war’’ exploded on court when the competition begins on 8 July to determine which province will reach the podium as the competition’s medallists.

The classy Gauteng Junior Girls will be defending their 2025 Junior
Championship title while the super confident KZN boys’ team will accept nothing beside the gold medals and the coveted championship silverware.

Given VSA’s social media blitz for the upcoming event, VSA President is hopeful that the Gauteng fans will rock up in large numbers at the Wits venue to support the National Championship.
