Have you seen these guys in your garden? The common Fiscal Shrike? The males often perch conspicuously on top of poles, fences or on branches to make other males aware of their presence and call from there if need be. They also dart down to catch insects and return to their perches. The females have a bit of rufus colour on their flanks. Look out for them in your garden.

There are many groups of organisms which act like a single being, bees, ants, termites are some of the obvious examples. This phenomena has been described as akin to the human brain, where each neuron is not very intelligent by it's self, but collectively the neurons could be the brain of Stephen Hawking.
