Appreciation post: So proud of my mom! My mom is still a strong advocate for adult swimming and for wanting children of all ages to learn to swim eventhough she's retired. She still does regular aqua classes in the kenton on sea lagoon and helps teach survival swimming to the local kids. My mom has been a great mentor to Tiffany who is doing great things especially in respect of adult teaching. Well done mom and Tiffany!

Kenton-on-sea Survival Swimming Programme, launching on Saturday 11th November Kariega River 10:00am - 12:30am
Pop down and see us in action, we will be teaching kids some survival swimming skills, this is going to be a great community project.

The Kenton and Port Alfred Survival Swimming Programme is launching on the 14 October! We would love to see you there and show you what we do.

The Programme is run by local volunteers trained and supported by the NSRI Drowning Prevention Team and aims to provide basic skills needed should children find themselves in difficulty in the water.

Amazing things can happen in the lagoon, my aqua happy place.

True story:

While Claire and I were doing an aqua session in the lagoon on 25 October, 2 rings which had belonged to Claire's mom fell off her finger into the water and sand. We quickly looked and felt around us in the sand but to no avail. We prayed to St Anthony to please help us find them.

Two weeks later I happened to come across someone on the beach who was using metal detector in the vicinity where we do aqua. I stopped and told him about Claire's rings. He told me the metal detector machine is waterproof and that he could probably have found the rings at the time. I took his number, gave him a missed call asking him to call me if he possibly found the rings then passed his number on to Claire. She was unable to get hold of him. I suggested that she put a message on the Kenton365 Whatsapp group which she did and she got two other contact numbers to try as well. She contacted Laura. She and her husband, Gareth met Claire on the beach where she pointed out more or less where we'd been on the lagoon. Gareth searched on two consecutive days to no avail then on Sunday Claire got a call from Laura to say that both of the rings had been found! They were about 20cm apart! This was over 3 weeks since they'd fallen into the water! What a joy for Claire!
