BCC Comrades 2026 Send-Off Breakfast
What an incredible morning as we gathered to celebrate, encourage, and send off our Comrades Marathon runners ahead of race day.
A special thank you to our guest speaker, , who shared his remarkable story of resilience, perseverance, and determination. After a life-changing accident left him paralysed, Joey defied the odds and went on to achieve his dream of racing the Dakar Rally. His journey is a powerful reminder that our greatest limits are often the ones we place on ourselves.
One message stood out above all others:
“You didn’t come this far to only come this far.”
As our athletes line up on the start line this Sunday, remember Joey’s journey. He didn’t conquer the impossible by focusing on the finish line, he focused on the next step, the next challenge, and simply moving forward.
The Comrades Marathon is no different.
When the hills feel endless, your legs are tired, and your mind starts negotiating with you, remember:

The finish line belongs to those who keep moving forward.
