Everyone can learn it, and everyone can feel great doing it. At Mark Hawkins Adult Ballet for EveryBODY we come from very different backgrounds: some have danced before and picked it up again, some of us have never danced and started late, some of us are former professional dancers with injuries, some have health challenges and most of us are way beyond our twenties. What connects us is our deep l

ove for dance, no matter what our bodies’ limitations are. We take our training serious, but not too serious. We don’t compete, except with ourselves. We laugh, swear, and sometimes even cry together. We are all a bit crazy, very diverse and absolutely love our ballet classes. Who is Mark Hawkins? Mark was born in Durban in 1962. He trained in dance and drama at the University of Natal (Durban) and later in Cape Town at UCT Ballet School. As a Principal dancer, choreographer and teacher he had an impressive career and was involved in multiple renowned productions locally and internationally. Currently he is a freelance teacher, choreographer, producer, project manager and director. He also serves as Artistic Director for Johannesburg Youth Ballet. He has a keen interest in sharing his expertise and passion with more and less abled dancers, since EveryBODY can and should dance. Why should you join? Ballet is perfect exercise for body, mind, and soul. You can start at any age and with any body shape or fitness level. If you have experience, that’s great. But if you are a beginner or feel rusty, you will get into it one plié at a time. Get some sparkle into your life and book a test session! Venue

Our classes happen at St. Francis in the Forest, 1 Talton Road, Forest Town, Johannesburg. The room is equipped with ballet barres, there is parking space and security. Schedule

Monday: 17:30 - musical theatre dance
Tuesday: 10:00 - ballet
Wednesday: 17:30 - ballet
Thursday: 10:00 - ballet
Saturday: 10:00 - ballet

Fees

1 lesson per week R500 per month
2 lessons per week R1000 per month
3 lessons per week R1200 per month
1 test lesson or walk-in session R150 once off
