Born in Johannesburg in August 2010 Unathi was exposed to the sport of golf at an early age of 4 years. His love for golf has grown through the years and the understanding and performance has also improved. Overcoming an eye condition of Keratoconus which is a disorder of the eye that results in progressive thinning of the cornea. This resulted in blurry vision, double vision, nearsightedness, irr
egular astigmatism and light sensitivity leading to poor quality of life. Unathi underwent a procedure to correct the eye condition and his quality of life has since improved and his golf is definitely on an upward trajectory. A well balanced daily schedule is carefully crafted to accommodate both the sporting and the academic aspects of his life. With a best 18 hole score of 74 Unathi’s handicap has dropped to 6 on HNA. Unathi has participated in SA Kids golf tournaments, ITU foundation tournaments, Bidvest race to Steyn City, Junior Africa Challenge, Inter Schools Golf Tournaments, Central Gauteng Golf Tournaments and Golf RSA junior tournaments. Unathi has recently enrolled at the ESCA ( Elite Sport & Cultural Academy) which is a sporting academy focusing on golf and academics. This is the best suited environment for Unathi as it caters for all his academics and sporting needs. With a great family support structure, Unathi strives to take his golfing career to greater heights and eventually end up with a PGA Tour playing card and a European Tour playing card.
