That’s a wrap, ladies and gentlemen! The 2024 Kneeboard Surfing World Titles are officially over. It is with heavy hearts that we turn the page on what was arguably one of the best events in the history of the sport. Today was a day for the ages. Imagine booking one of the premier arenas in the sport of surfing and getting it as good as it gets—that’s what today was. Six to eight-foot thundering Lower Point, with no shortage of waves. When we asked the premier Open Division winner, Chayne Simpson, what it was like having the world champs in J-Bay, he swiftly responded, “Can we do it again? Let’s go every year here!” That pretty much sums up this year’s Kneeboard World Champs.
Standouts of the day included Open Division winner Chayne Simpson, who was exceptional from day one of the event, especially when the surf heaved. He looked in his element, posting excellent rides throughout the competition. Simon Farrer, who managed an 18.70 combined heat score total made up of a 9.87 and an 8.83, also stood out. Despite being an older competitor, his surfing looked no less relevant and explosive than that of the Open Division. And in the Invincibles Division, Scott Wessling took the win. The 70+ men braved the wild, wooly, heaving conditions to catch some epic rides.
