Understanding growth mindset opens up possibility

‘The more you believe your abilities are malleable, the more likely you are to focus on developing them, knowing you have the potential to do so.’

How have I learnt from this?

- Asking what beliefs enable or disable my ability to move forward/change/grow?
- Bringing one belief into awareness, and challenging it mindfully (gently without judgement).
- Allowing options of new beliefs to surface, and feeling which ones make more sense (bring more value).
- Committing to practising my new belief in thought and action.
- Experiencing the value of the change.

No new year’s resolution needed. Just a new way of thinking!
Here is a relevant recent article by the NeuroLeadership Institute.

As we progress through our careers, it’s normal to feel as though we are not qualified to perform in an assigned role. We may believe we got the job or the assignment due to luck, or a mistake, not based on merit. These thoughts encompass imposter syndrome, a prevalent issue that, contingent on th...

Kindness – an evidence-based strategy for leadership

‘Acts of kindness activate the part of our brains that makes us feel pleasure and releases a hormone called oxytocin that helps modulate social interactions and emotion. Being kind is good for our own and our employees' mental health. And that translates to improved morale and performance.’ Harvard Business School

In a recent article the HBS emphasises the need to expand managers’ toolkits by showing kindness as a leadership strategy, as well as offering some good simple tips for giving attention to being kind.

The law of attraction

Understanding and using the brain intentionally adds a new dimension to thinking, mindset and our life experience. For the better!

‘The law of attraction is strongly connected to us aligning all of our brain power. It describes the way that we can create the relationships, situations and material things that come into our lives as a direct consequence of the way we think and the subconscious beliefs that underlie that. We ‘manifest’ them by focusing on them, visualizing them becoming true, and directing our energy towards them through our actions. This is the idea that by choosing to focus your energy and attention towards something, it can be manifested in your life.’

Read “What People Miss About The Law Of Attraction” – another great article by Dr Tara Swart Bieber.

There is so much evidence of this in life, through our experiences – self, groups and organisations. Understanding and using the brain intentionally adds a new dimension to thinking, mindset …

Celebrate 50 years of Earth Day TODAY!

There are so many small and big acts of green, and the more we learn about our natural environment, the more awareness we create, and the more we can participate in restoring our earth and our selves.

For people big and small - here's a great way to participate in Earth Day 22 April. This National Geographic animal encyclopaedia of photos, videos, facts and more is beautiful and so user-friendly. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/facts-pictures/

Finding Hope

This is a highly recommended weekend read published APRIL 16th 2020 by TIME’s Editor in Chief, Edward Felsenthal.
TIME reached out to its TIME 100 ‘community for insights and perspectives on some of the challenges we are all facing in navigating the new realities…’

May this article inspire you to give attention to your perspective on hope and finding hope.

Ask –

Is my hope something that is external to me and in happening in the future?

Is my hope something that is internal to me and driving my daily life?

Improving our human experience. On earth. Now.

'The world turned out differently from the predictions—and, in many ways, better. Thanks to technological advances, political and economic reforms, and cultural changes, average human physical well-being has, by almost every measure, improved since 1970.’

As we grapple between safety and uncertainty at this moment in our human calendar, and hover in the environmental calendar between Earth Hour of 28th March and Earth Day of 22 April, I pause for a moment and share an article by CHARLES C. MANN featured in National Geographic Magazine’s April issue.
