Actively selecting your coach ensures that your needs and not those of the company are paramount. The company should still pay for your coaching as they ultimately receive the benefits. Obviously, you will still need to present the credentials of your selected coach to ensure that you are dealing with a competent person who has a demonstrated history of success.

Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress or overwork. If you recognize several of these signs in yourself, it's important to take them seriously and take steps to address burnout. This might include seeking support from a healthcare professional, talking to your employer about your workload, practicing stress management techniques, and making self-care a priority. Burnout can have serious consequences on both your physical and mental health, so early intervention is crucial.

So, take a break this Christmas. Three weeks is ideal but even a complete switch-off over the festive season is valuable. If you can't get away, try to get into nature, go to the cinema, and visit new places. Just put yourself into different environments even if it is just for a few hours!

Here are some ways to deal with these paralyzing feelings:

1. Breathe and Ground Yourself: When you feel overwhelmed, take deep breaths to calm your nervous system. Focus on your breath and try to ground yourself in the present moment.

2. Break It Down: Break the situation down into smaller, more manageable parts. Instead of thinking about the rejection as a whole, focus on specific aspects. What can you learn from the experience? What can you do differently in the future?

3. Challenge Catastrophic Thinking: Often, when we face rejection, we tend to catastrophize the situation, imagining the worst outcomes. Challenge these catastrophic thoughts by asking yourself if they are truly realistic. Usually, they are not.

4. Accept Your Emotions: It's okay to feel these emotions. Accept that you're experiencing them without judgment. Avoiding or suppressing them can make the paralysis worse.

5. Progressive Exposure: Gradually expose yourself to situations that trigger these feelings. This exposure can help desensitize you to rejection over time. Start small and work your way up to more significant ones.

6. Self-Compassion and Self-Care: Treat yourself with kindness and care during difficult times. Engage in self-soothing activities such as taking a warm bath, practicing relaxation techniques, or engaging in activities you enjoy. Self-compassion can help you feel more grounded and resilient.

7. Seek Professional Help: If these feelings are severely impacting your life and well-being, consider consulting a therapist or counselor. They can provide specialized guidance and techniques to help you work through these emotions.

8. Build a Support System: Surround yourself with supportive and understanding people who can encourage and motivate you during tough times. Sharing your feelings and experiences with trusted friends or family members can provide emotional relief.

9. Set Small, Achievable Goals: Start with small, manageable goals to regain your confidence. As you achieve these goals, it can help rebuild your self-esteem and lessen the impact of rejection.

10. Practice Resilience: Understand that rejection is a part of life and personal growth. Resilience is built over time through experience. Each rejection is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and become more resilient.

Remember that overcoming paralyzing feelings of rejection may take time, and it's okay to seek professional help when needed. Be patient with yourself and keep working on these strategies to gradually regain your confidence and manage these emotions.
