THE ADVENTURE BEGINS
One of our tours is underway.
FIrst ride takes us from Gowan Valley Farm to Zingela, crossing remote tribal lands and winding along dirt tracks few visitors ever see.

Two local riders joined us to guide the way and show us their home tracks — the kind of riding you only discover with people who know these lands by heart.

This is what Dust Trails Africa is about.
Real riding. Real places. Real encounters along the way.

📍 Next stop: Zingela and the wild bush beyond.

The mountain passes of SOUTH AFRICA & LESOTHO
This one goes deeper. Over 10 days we take you through KwaZulu-Natal, the Drakensberg, and right into the heart of Lesotho. We cross Sani Pass at 2,900m, drop into remote highland territory, and ride through Basotho villages where oxen still pull the plough and horses are the main transport.
Along the way there are game corridors with giraffe and zebra visible from the saddle. San rock paintings outside Rhodes. A donkey pub crawl in Semonkong. And riding through landscapes that few people ever reach, and almost none by motorcycle.
About 80-90% gravel. Terrain ranges from flowing farm tracks and open valleys to steep switchbacks, loose mountain passes and river crossings. Charlie rides with you the whole way, coaches you through the hard bits, and knows every shortcut and hiding spot in the mountains.
10 days. Max 5 riders. Difficulty: 3–(4)/5.
This is an adventure into a world most people don't know exists. Come find out why we keep going back.

THE HIGH FIVE — South Africa's Mountain Passes by Motorcycle
There are five mountain passes in the highlands of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape that most people have never heard of. We ride all of them.
The South African High Five Mountains Adventure is 10 days through some of the wildest, most remote terrain in Southern Africa. We're talking Naude's Nek — the highest gravel road in South Africa. The Tenahead Traverse along the Lesotho border. Carlisleshoek Pass up to the old Tiffindell Ski Resort. Otto du Plessis. And more. Around 80% gravel. Up to 2,000 km through mountains, valleys, and farmlands that feel like the end of the world in the best possible way.
We start in the KZN midlands, work our way south through the Drakensberg foothills, and base ourselves in Rhodes — a Victorian village frozen in time, a couple of hours from the nearest town. Days out of Rhodes are among the best riding you'll find anywhere on the continent. On one of the final days we cross into Lesotho and spend a night in a real Basotho village. Then back down to ride Sani Pass to close it out.
Small groups. Max 5 riders. Charlie coaches you through every technical section. This is not a guided tour in the traditional sense — it's a riding adventure with someone who knows every rock on every road.
Difficulty: 3 (4)/5. Good for experienced gravel riders who want a serious mountain adventure without going full enduro.
Season opens October. Drop us a message if you want to know more. 👇

Savannah to Sea – our most complete African riding experience.

This is not just a motorcycle tour.
It is a ride through three very different parts of Southern Africa.
We start in the wild bush country of northern KwaZulu-Natal, ride into the mountains and villages of Eswatini, and finish by the Indian Ocean in Mozambique.

Expect gravel roads, wildlife, warm local hospitality, border crossings, beach air, good food, and long riding days through places most travellers never see.

This is Africa with depth. Not a quick safari stop. Not a polished tourist route. Bush, mountains, villages, sand, sea and real people along the way.

The riding is graded 2–3/5, depending on the group and the route choices we make. We keep the groups small, adapt the pace, and Charlie will guide and coach you through the ride.

If you want a motorcycle adventure that gives you more, this is the one.

Savannah to Sea. Bush to beach. Three countries. Three cultures. One adventurous ride.*

Savannah to Sea is not just another motorcycle tour.
This is one of our most varied adventures riding from the African bush to the Indian Ocean, through changing landscapes, cultures and wildlife areas.

You’ll ride gravel roads, backcountry tracks and quiet routes through South Africa, Eswatini and Mozambique. Along the way we sample local food, meet different communities, and see how the culture changes as we move from savannah to mountains and finally to the coast.

There is safari on land, looking for the Big Five.
And safari at sea , looking for sharks, tropical fish and marine life in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

It is real diversity in one ride.

Book now for July to October.
Small groups. Full support. Real adventure.
