I honestly did not wish to respond to the rumours making the rounds on social media regarding the Bayside Events bookings at Eskape.
In fact, I have been advised by many people not to respond, simply because I do not want this to come across as Eskape and Bayside Events having an issue or “coming at each other” on social media. That is definitely not what we want.
However, I would just like to clear things up once and for all, mainly to prevent any further rumours and to avoid the many private messages and calls I have been receiving asking what is going on.
So, to be absolutely clear:
Eskape did not ask Bayside Events to move their events, nor did we cancel their bookings.
Bayside Events requested to cancel their events with us.
The reason we stated that the events were “cancelled” is because that is how the information was communicated to us by Bayside Events. We later understood that the word “cancelled” may not have been the best wording, and we immediately went back and rectified this on our page.
With that said, I also want to make it very clear that Eskape is not, and will never be, in competition with event organisers — whether it is Bayside Events, Pabie & Friends, RJ’s Events or anyone else.
We are simply a venue that hosts events organised by different organisers. Whoever the organiser is, Eskape benefits from hosting their event, so there is absolutely no reason for us to compete with them.
It is also completely normal for Eskape to host an event on a date where there is another event taking place at any other venue.
Why? Because very often, the same people attending those events later come through to Eskape for an after-party. We want those events to be successful because we benefit from the people looking for somewhere to continue the evening afterwards.
It has always worked this way with other event organisers hosting events at other venues.
It is NOT A COMPETITION!
Eskape has always supported, and will continue to support, our local artists, event organisers and DJs. We created Eskape as a space where our local talent can showcase what they do, and we will continue assisting organisers wherever possible — including offering free or discounted venue usage for fundraising and community-support events.
We have no interest in drama, competition or unnecessary social-media back-and-forth. We simply wanted to clear up the situation so there is no further misunderstanding or speculation.
We trust this has now made the matter clear.
We wish Bayside Events nothing but the best with their upcoming events and sincerely hope they are a great success.
