Trump's win was never guaranteed, his triumph is not due to his prowess to find a panacea to the US' economy, he's a billionaire not a statesman. Willfully rough around the edges, deliberately provocative, knowingly rude and unhinged. He does not win because he is a brilliant strategist with a sharp mind. To crown it all, his followers are not perturbed by his criminal disposition. They don't care for his prejudice and bigotry. He treats Europe, Multilateral entities, and global treaties and international trade as a businessman. He at least sees NATO, for what it is, a global bully kept alive and relevant by the US public purse. So then, Trump wins the second time, by such significant approval, simply because, he knows, the majority of Americans are like him. Hence, no need for statesman like brilliance, deferment to morality and decency, and just appealing to ethno-supremacy, overbearing to the racial and economic underdogs. And those lower classes supporting him only prioritizing supremacist instincts and domestic domination nostalgia.
