From Red and Black to Green and Gold 🇿🇦🇺🇸

NMB Water Polo is incredibly proud to celebrate Lucy Nagel and Kim Kabiri, whose journeys have taken them from representing NMB ❤️🖤in red and black to earning SA Schools selection and competing at university level in the United States.

Kim Kabiri has begun her second year at Concordia University Irvine, with Lucy joining her as a first-year student. To see two NMB players reunited on the other side of the world is a very special moment for our water polo community.

Fittingly, the Concordia Golden Eagles also compete in green and gold, 💚💛the same colours Lucy and Kim wore while representing South Africa. Their journey from red and black to green and gold has now come full circle.

Their achievements are a wonderful example of the direction in which South African water polo is moving. Stronger development pathways are creating opportunities for young people to grow within the sport, whether as players, coaches, referees or officials.

Congratulations, Kim, on everything you achieved during your first year, and congratulations to Lucy as she begins this exciting new chapter. We are immensely proud of you both and look forward to following your journey with the Concordia Golden Eagles. 🦅🤽‍♀️

World Aquatics Referee Joins SAWP for Referee Development Clinic

Tomorrow we will welcome Mike Jukes, World Aquatics referee, to South Africa - here to work directly with our officiating community and raise the standard of refereeing across SAWP.

From 28–30 August, Mike will run a referee clinic alongside our EU Men’s training camp, working hands-on with our officials on the laws, interpretations and standards that our teams will meet on the international stage in October and December.

Investing in world-class officiating isn’t optional if you’re serious about international competition - and we are.

A proud moment for NMB Water Polo ❤️🖤🐘🇿🇦

Four of our NMB U17 players, Jorja Wilmot, Sarah Whitehead, Michael Swart and Benn Jorgensen, progressed to the final round of the SWPSA U17 trials, competing for the opportunity to represent South Africa at the 2026 Junior EU Nations Cup in Brno, Czechia. 🇨🇿 Schools Water Polo SA

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Sarah Whitehead on her selection for the South African Under-17 Girls’ Schools Water Polo team, which will compete at the Junior Women EU Nations Cup from 15 to 24 November 2026.
A huge congratulations also goes to Jorja Wilmot, who has been selected as a non-travelling reserve for the South African U17 Girls’ team. This is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the hard work, talent and commitment she has shown throughout the selection process.

On the boys’ side, congratulations to Benn Jorgensen and Michael Swart on their selection for the South African Under-17 Boys’ Schools Water Polo team. 💪They will represent South Africa at the Junior Men EU Nations Cup in Brno Czechia, from 1 to 10 November 2026. Both Benn and Michael are named in the final national squad list representing Nelson Mandela Bay with pride in this Junior SA team.

To have FOUR NMB players reach the final stage of the national selection process, with three selected to travel and one named as a reserve, is an outstanding achievement for us 🥺🐘.

Sarah, Jorja, Benn and Michael, you have represented Nelson Mandela Bay with distinction. We are incredibly proud of what you have achieved and wish you every success as you continue your water polo journeys.

Farewell Wardy! ❤️🖤
He gave four years to NMB Water Polo, coaching our U16 boys and staying with them right through to U19. At Eco Academy he spent countless hours teaching kids the game, and he STILL holds the record for the most gold medals at our Eco tournaments. 😏💪Every team he coached played like they believed in themselves, because he made sure they did.❤️

Now he’s off to Abu Dhabi to start his new adventure. We’re gutted to see him go, but we could not be prouder of him. 🥺

Dan, thank you for everything. For the early mornings, the patience, the wins, and for caring about these kids the way you did. You’ve left your mark on NMB Water Polo, Woodridge, Eco Academy and the water polo scene as a whole, and it’s not going anywhere.

Go well, mate. We wish you all the BEST and safe travels 💙

Hi everyone 💚🇿🇦

Two of our own, Megan and Ashley, have been selected to represent South Africa at the EU Nations Water Polo Tournament in the Czech Republic this October, as part of the first-ever SAWP Women’s National Team.

Both are former NMB players, proudly hail from the Eastern Cape, and represented South Africa at the Tokyo Olympic Games. They have also spent many years giving back to our sport through coaching.

We are incredibly proud of these two homegrown Olympians and would love for the NMB water polo community to get behind them. They have launched a BackaBuddy campaign to help cover the remaining costs of the tour.

A new era. A new identity to match the aspirations of SAWP and its athletes.

Designed for the European Nations tour, our new kit brings together SA Water Polo’s own colours and a bold South African-inspired pattern that gives the team a powerful and unmistakable national identity.

Take a closer look at the design. It is more than decoration - it is a visual language for who we are.

The circular motifs carry a double meaning: each one reads as both a water droplet and the ball itself. Inspired by Africa’s rich textile traditions, the pattern has been designed to say “South Africa” the moment our players step onto the pool polo. 🇿🇦
