Matchday 1 Result: HFL Masters League - Goodwood Presby 1 - 1 Common Ground

Our first match of the season saw us salvage a draw near the end of the second half thanks to a super strike from Donnie, one of our new players and a serious boost to our squad this season.

Brian & Ivo, also new and brilliant additions to our squad, both had excellent games and the season ahead certainly looks promising with these guys on board.

The match was a difficult affair as the field was dry, uneven and sandy in many parts, plus the howling wind made free kicks and corners quite tricky. Nevertheless, we came to play and conceded a goal in the first half but we never gave up! Some shrewd substitutions in the 2nd half gave us a late energy burst and some neat passing from Duncan & Marco set up Donnie for the equaliser.

All in all, a fair result considering many of us, including myself, were a bit rusty and our opposition have certainly improved from last season.

Goodwood Presby remain unbeaten... :)

So the season has come to an end this last tuesday night with a victory for the guys over Every Nation South. This was preceded by a victory over Tygerberg last weekend.

Goodwood went into the match looking for their first ever victory over Tygerberg and against all odds pulled it off with a 2-1 victory. Goodwood took the lead early in the 1st half when Terence Smith scored following a pin point cross from Riaan van Eeden on the wing, Tyerberg equalized shortly after the break, but in the last 10 minutes Terence Smith broke free on the right and scored the winner with a neat finish to secure the win, 2 goals and Man of the match. What a feeling to beat our rivals at last.

Goodwood played some amazing football on a perfect Tuesday evening with a 6-2 win. Terence Smith opened the scoring early in the 1st half latching onto a long ball from Coenie at left back. Every Nation then equalized and scored again shortly after to go into halftime with a 2-1 lead. After the break it was all Goodwood as Lindiz van Zilla equalized with a left foot strike just outside the box before Terence Smith showed some good close control to score the 3 rd goal and shortly after complete his hattrick with a long range strike. Two more goals followed from Jiga and a well deserved goal for Steven Adriaanzen who neatly tucked away his chance.
The win secured a best ever 4th place league finish for the side.
