No wasted weekends crew had another awesome trip in the Baviaanskloof.
We left George bright and early Saturday morning, driving into the best sunrise ever. With bright red/pink sky's, we knew it's going to be a perfect day.
The ride started at the Vaalwater turn off with a proper tail wind all the way through the Nuwekloofpass. We stopped for a lunch break at the beautiful . They prepared vetkoek and mince for us with coffee. The riders had a nice time to recharge the body and the bikes.
From there onwards we head to our favorite place Zandvlakte. There, we could clear the minds by chilling on the grass and listing to the birds chatting over who's nest looks the best.
That night, we had a proper steak, pasta, and potbrood. Everyone chilled by the fire while we had a lekker kuier.
The next morning was once again a nice and early morning. We started the morning with some clouds in the sky looking like we were going to get some rain, but again, it turned out to be a beautiful clear day. We got to the nature reserves gate still bring closed, but luckly, we managed to get hold of the rangers. The bakkie had a flat tire, so we decided to make coffee and eat cake while we wait.
Eventually, we got riding again, but then something unexpected happened. We all stopped about 2km from the gate, and all of a sudden, a bright light came across the sky, followed by a big bang. It turned out to be a meteor that fell into the ocean, not too far from where we were. Everyone was shocked about what we just saw. After the shock settled, we kept on riding. The Baviaans is just getting more and more scenic. Water levels dropped a lot since we were there just a month ago. We saw buffalo, bokkies, and a lot of baboons.
We ended the ride at the Patensie side gate where we had delicious hotdogs and beers before we headed back home.
This was a much smaller group then usual, but they all made it very spacial, and one weekend we will always remember.
Thanks to everyone who joined us this weekend.
