As paddlers, waterways are important to us. Unfortunately, waterways near any human settlement end up litter-filled, delivering trash to the sea.

The Garden Route Dam Action Group (GARDAG) has scheduled a clean-up of the Meul River, near the Outeniqua Transport Museum on Saturday, 16 September 2023 for World Clean-up Day. The Meul River flows into the sea at Victoria Bay, delivering litter from our city to the sea and beach.

Meet at 14h00 at the Transport Museum. Take along gloves and bags and be part of making a difference.

The club organised a paddle-and-braai on Saturday, 26 August at Fairy Knowe in Wilderness to celebrate a remarkable achievement by one of our club members. At the beginning of July, Jannie Malherbe completed his 50th Berg River Canoe Marathon. He turns 84 in November.

At the braai, Jannie was awarded a special keepsake trophy acknowledging this accomplishment as well as the club's floating trophy for Member of the Year.

At lunch, Jannie said a few words, adding that it shouldn't take someone doing 50 Bergs to bring us together but that the club should make this braai an annual social fixture. Hear, hear! Well said Jannie and very well done on your achievement.
