Gansbaai Communal Sport Centre

Gansbaai Communal Sport Centre The Gansbaai Communal Sport Centre was developed to offer opportunities to the youth through participation in sport. Absa has invested R4.6 million.

Our aim is to provide the youth with a healthy focus, inspire pride and determination to succeed. The Gansbaai Communal Sport Centre was officially opened in April 2008 under the ABSA Spaces for Sports banner. A public private partnership between the Overstrand Municipality, the Department Cultural Affairs and Sports, the Grootbos Foundation, and ABSA, made the completion of the project possible.

Overstrand Municipality have provided the land worth in excess of R10 million and a further R1 million (prize money from the Vuna Awards) for the development of the clubhouse. The Overstrand Municipality has also pledged an annual grant of R100 000, that escalates at a rate of 10% per annum, towards the maintenance of the facility. Other notable contributions to the project have been £75,000 from the Barclays Premier league and R1.5 million contributed by The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport.

Residents Embrace Free Tech Training via Mobile eCentre Bus

Well done to all residents for taking advantage of this opportunity to improve their digital skills.

It is great to see so many community members taking part to upskill themselves through the Mobile eCentre Bus, which provides free computer literacy training. This initiative is made possible through a partnership between Overstrand Municipality’s Thusong Programme and the Western Cape Government.

The training has already concluded in Kleinmond and Gansbaai and is currently underway in Zwelihle, with Stanford and Mount Pleasant to follow.
