Grand Prix General Patton Stage 2...

Results of the South African Juniors that started today . Not looking good for almost half of the field , with yesterday's SA's top two finishers both DNF'ing . Haven't heard the whole story yet but it appears what i remember of last years race , happened again ! Gutter open gutter and yet more gutters into short sharp climbs .

Cape Argus Cycle Tour...

With the disappointment of the Argus Tour now a thing of the past , we set our sights on the immediate goal which is SA Track Champs . This will take us to our quarterly year plan for 2017 . Looking back some nine months our results have been more than satisfactory .

Two Junior wins with the elites from new comer Titus Juries in as many national events . Good finishers of him too in the Elite Points as well as the Twenty Five Miler at Boxing Day in Paarl . In turn training partner George Perrins posted good wins in Geuteng and following that off with Amashova between Pietermaritzburg and Durban .

While this was all going on Naubigh Davids was still building strength and milage for bigger events like the two tours and SA Roads which eventually didn't happen for him due to illness . Through this whole build phase he found him testing himself occasionally against the strava app where he took out many KOM's .

One of these consisted of the famous Ben Swift KOM which he broke just before the Cape Argus Tour , confirming his peak form as well as our intention for this targeted event . Besides him we also had Georgie coming from a fair Tour Of Good Hope and SA Road Champs as backup for him , where in the tour , he had two good days and two not so good days and at SA's Road a Top 20 overhaul was almost achieved .

With all our senior riders resting before SA's Track we wait patiently for another sponsor to come abroad so we can tackle bigger and better events without the added stresses of transport , race entries , accommodation , traveling cost and the likes . Hopefully the next few days work out so we can show our worth with our second quarter of racing starting in Geuteng .

Tour Of Good Hope Stage 5...

Last day of tour work as was planned . Goal was to get to Taal Monument in one piece and give a good account of ourselves there . Race pace was hard from the gun as the there was no neutral . Things started happening at Sonop Hills with the race being put in the opposite side of the road . Heading to the R44 the final race break was formed of about 30 riders which including George Perrin .The day ended with a good result which put us in a good space to recover and approach the Cape Argus Tour with a bigger plan .

Tour Of Good Hope Stage 3...

The day was a hard one . George did himself no favors to go with most of the moves after neutral was lifted . These effects took their toll as the first climb of the day started some 5 k's later . After KOM the chasing group had picked him up and by the left towards Villiersdorp they had made contact with the main group again .

From there the race got hard again and shortly there after the break had formed with him missing out on that because of his previous unnecessary efforts . The race was neutralized one more time before the hill top finish of Du Toits Kloof only for him not to survive it dropping prematurely quarter way in .

The sense I got from him running through the race at the lunch table was that he tried to make up for the previous day's misfortunes in the TIme Trial . We regroup for tomorrow's stage with more conservative tactics in mind just trying to survive to the line in the main group and try to get a good position in the bunch sprint finish .

Tour Of Good Hope Stage 2...

All settled in , tactics discussed according to what was trained . Time we were realistic targeting was a 38 . Starting time was 08h35 . 50 seconds in a mechanical followed by a rear tubby explosion . Back up vehicle no where in side , George had to ride back to the parking lot , change the rear wheel and then start all over again with his time by now well into the 11 minutes .

Final time was a mediocre 50 , but in hind sight we survived the day to fight again tomorrow . One KOM and two hotspots in the stage , at this point white and definitely out of reach , let's see what tomorrow holds .
