Our athletes have been very busy over the last couple of weeks. Congratulations to Cornel Metcalfe for completing the grueling 171km flagship race UTMB Mont-Blanc in 45 hours, 14 minutes. Overall position 1,616th. Gender position 254th. Category position (W50) 32th. By conquering the 10,000 meters of elevation gain around Mont-Blanc massif, she successfully added yet another massive achievement to her career as one of South Africa's most decorated 100 mile ultra runner. Well done Cornel.
Onto the SA Cross country championship held at Curro Hazeldean on Saturday, we had three athletes competing. Claudeen Nortjè and Annette Shanahan competed in the 35+ category, coming in 9th and 19 respectively and also being part of the North West team to take 3rd place in the teams competition. Charmaine Wright competing in the 70+ category coming in the 6th position. Congratulations to all our athletes.

After Comrades shanigans. Most of our athletes out and about, training to stay fit and looking out for the next challenge. We celebrated Conrad Freese birthday with a lovely 12km run followed by wor rolls and cake.

Heartfelt congratulations are in order for our Comrades athletes, who demonstrated remarkable determination, grit, and courage in tackling the Comrades marathon, truly the Ultimate Human race. Kudos to each participant who crossed the finish line in this grueling event. Your accomplishments fill us with immense pride.

The countdown has officially commenced, with 12 days remaining until race day. All athletes are focusing on tapering and injury prevention, while also taking precautions against illnesses. We wish everyone a safe and healthy journey to the start line. Congratulations to Cornel Metcalfe for successfully completing her second MUT 100 miler despite encountering challenges. You embody the spirit of an Iron woman. We also extend our congratulations to the rest of our athletes and cyclists who have been diligently training for their respective events. The athletes are diligently finalizing their training regimens in anticipation of the Comrades Marathon and other prestigious races. Well done, their tireless efforts will undoubtedly be rewarded with success.

The FRC community came together for a wonderful weekend, highlighted by the 3 Province ride, which kicked off at the club house. The ride consisted of three legs, the first being a 54km stretch finishing in Parys, followed by a 52km leg to Potchefstroom, where cyclists rested at The Road Lodge. Despite the challenges posed by the wind on Mother's Day during the final leg, the cyclists showed remarkable resilience and determination. A big thank you is extended to the organizers and supporters who made the event possible. Well done to FRC athletes who completed various distances at the Cradle race and to those undertaking final training runs for Comrades, with one month remaining.
