Dear members,
Dear friends of FBC,
Dear guests and followers,
Today, I would like to bid you all farewell. In just a few days, my ten-year journey with Ferndale Bowls Club, spanning eight years as Club Secretary and roles ranging from bowler, kitchen assistant, barmaid, waitress, and cleaner, to listener, general helper, social media creator, and photographer for everything involving FBC, will become a thing of the past.
As a Swiss woman, things weren't easy for me at first. Navigating the language, the culture, and the mix of people from so many different countries—many of whom, like me, had immigrated here—was both fascinating and exhausting. Yet, before long, I felt truly part of this community and this incredibly beautiful country. I have seen many people come and go, and—sadly—some have left us forever.
Now, the time has come for me to move on as well, and I want to thank everyone for an exciting, unforgettable time at this wonderful club.
It has been an honor to handle so many tasks for this club, and to have managed—even when things got chaotic—to keep looking ahead. During this time, I worked with five presidents and met hundreds of bowlers from other clubs. I formed many friendships but also weathered some tough times. Not everyone got along with my style, and not everyone loved me dearly😏—but the feeling was mutual🤭.
Even so, I wouldn’t want to miss a single day of it.
I wish you all the best, good health and happiness, and I’m sure I’ll see some of you again sometimes somewhere.
