This past weekend we hosted our annual interclub competition. Fishing kicked off at 2 pm on Friday with scales closing at 11 pm giving the anglers a good amount of time to fish in the dark. Fishing on Saturday started at 10 am with scales closing at 9 pm however the second day was called off early at 6:35 pm due to a very strong south westerly wind. The fishing was tough all round however we did see some great catches including a few Dusky Kob over 20 Kgs on 10 Kg line. There are also 2 pending records amongst the catches. Thank you to all the clubs and teams who came to take part in our interclub and a big thank you to the skippers who got everyone out and back safely in the dark. A big thank you must also go to the Commitee of the Rod and Reel Club and the ground crew who worked incredibly hard to make sure the competition was a success. A massive thank you also goes out to our very generous sponsors, we thank you for your contributions and understand that these events would not be possible without them.
Congratulations to Umhlanga Ski Boat Club for winning this years interclub with over 400 points separating them from second place.
Byron Kane from Umhlanga was the Top Angler and shared the prize for most species with Martin van der Vyver from the Gonubie White team each catching 4 species individually.
Top Junior went to Keagyn Mocke who was fishing his first competition for the Natal Association team.
Top Lady went to Geraldine Vivers from the Gonubie Blue team.
Graham Doman on the boat “Teraglin” was the Top Skipper achieving a massive 1148.62 points over the 2 days of fishing.
