"I AM 99% CERTAIN WE SHOULD COME OUT VICTORIOUS."
Shebeshxt appeared once again at the Polokwane Regional Court, where his case involving 20 charges was postponed to 10 July for a pre-trial conference.
Speaking outside court, Shebeshxt’s lawyer, , explained that the postponement was partly to allow them to appoint an advocate who will take the matter forward.
"I wouldn't want to take on the trial and only delay the matter because my diary doesn't look quite good."
The lawyer explained that the final decision on the advocate would belong to Shebeshxt himself.
"It mustn't be my choice. I can recommend, but he must make the final choice because that person will be responsible for advancing his interests."
But the biggest moment came when the lawyer was asked about the appeal matter currently before the High Court.
"Before taking the practice, as a lawyer, I don't just do what clients want. I advise clients based on the merits of the case."
Then he made a bold statement:
"Where it is pending, I am 99% certain that we should come out victorious."
He also revealed that if things do not go well at the High Court, they are prepared to continue fighting.
"He has already told me that if it doesn't go well there, there is still the Supreme Court appeal, and there's still the Constitutional Court."
The legal battle surrounding Shebeshxt continues to grow, and supporters are now watching closely to see whether the courts will eventually grant him bail.
