The Border Rugby Union (BRU) governs rugby in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, and is the administrative body for the Border Bulldogs professional team, which plays in the Currie Cup First Division, stablished in 1891. The team, founded in 2002, made history in 2013 by lifting the Women’s Interprovincial trophy for the first time since the competition began. The team again made headlines when they
retained their title in 2014, with an unbeaten streak, and had 14 players represent South Africa in the 30-woman South African side. In addition to this, in 2014, the Border Women’s sevens team came home with the trophy after a successful sevens championship tournament in Saldhana Bay. With more hard work and dedication, the ladies to carry the cup again at the end of the 2015 Women's Inter Provincial season. In 2021 we regained the national title again & defended it successfully in 2022 after a 4-year dominance from Western Province prior to the COVID 19 Pandemic
