Tygerberg MTB Club Tygerberg Mountain Bike Club situated in the Durbanville Hills Area. With over 175km of trails our 7200 members are spoiled for choice.

NEW WHEELS - DOUBLE THE SUPPORT.

There’s been a serious upgrade in the Tygerberg MTB vehicle department ! We’re excited to announce that the club has taken delivery of our very own workhorse. A massive thank you to the team at CFAO Mobility - Isuzu - Cape Gate for an excellent deal on the vehicle, as well as a great trade-in on our previous vehicle, that served us well, but was just not quite punching in the correct weight division.

And then… there’s the other new arrival 👀 Together with our newly purchased bakkie, we also took delivery of our annual sponsored vehicle from Isuzu Cape Gate - and this one is a serious upgrade. We’re proud to be driving the latest Isuzu 1.9L Automatic 4x4, launched just two months ago 🔥

Two Isuzus now form part of the fleet ready to get stuck in wherever they’re needed.....from moving equipment to assisting our trail teams and tackling all those behind-the-scenes jobs that keep the club rolling.

A partnership like this makes a real difference, and we’re incredibly grateful to CFAO Mobility - Isuzu - Cape Gate for their continued support of Tygerberg MTB.

Nobody heads out thinking “today might be a good day for an emergency”, but crashes happen, and sometimes a normal ride takes an unexpected turn.

📍 Use your tech.
Many GPS devices offer Incident Detection, Live Tracking and emergency assistance - ensure these are activated on your devices - some even have rear radar to warn you about vehicles approaching on the roads.

📱 Make sure someone can find you.
Use live tracking to a loved one, friend or family member, when riding solo or heading into unfamiliar areas.

🆘 Know your emergency options.
Club Members have access to an ER24 emergency service via our club bot, with an instant GPS coordinate function. We also have a collaboration with ICE-ID.Me, where important emergency information readily available to first responders.

Today would have been Carel’s birthday.

It’s difficult to believe it has been five years since he's passing. He's coined the nickname Raas-Bekkie, for his unique persona behind the microphone...it was where he felt most at home.

Some people leave memories behind, and some leave a little bit of themselves, in the people they associated with. Carel certainly did that.

For many of us at Tygerberg MTB, thinking of Carel Bezuidenhoud brings a smile - the voice, the humour, the character, and those moments on and around the trails that made him…..well, him.

On what would have been your birthday, we thank you again for all the great times you brought us - you are still remembered, still missed, and still part of the Tygerberg MTB family 💙

🚵‍♂️🔥 BLOEMENDAL IS RACE DAY READY 🔥🚵‍♀️

This Saturday, the Lower Bloemendal trails will once again come alive with the energy of school MTB racing, as it hosts the final event of the Western Cape Schools Cycling series.

Most of the trails on lower Bloemendal Trail Park will be used for the day's various age category events, and off-limits for normal use from Friday at 13h00, to end of Saturday - please plan your riding along other venues.

We encourage you to come cheering these young riders, competing for their schools, chasing their goals and having a whole lot of fun along the way.

For many members there's a trail your wheels probably have not rolled on yet. Upper Bloemendal has a hidden gem of a loop - natural trails which combines sections such as Akkedis, Bloemendal Theatre and "Cannonball" (unofficially named). In this loop there are a few steep and punchy climbs, but the views and flow that follow, make the effort entirely worth it. Make sure to head out there soon to experience it for yourself.

Tomorrow is officially Spring Day, which means more daylight, warmer mornings and the perfect excuse to spend even more time on the trails. 🌸☀️ It also means that we're all about to say "I'm not unfit... I just can't breathe because of this flipping pollen." 😂

So from tomorrow, remember your Spring riding essentials:

🚵 Bike - obviously
💧 Water - definitely
😎 Sunglasses - preferably
🤧 Antihistamines - now more essential than your favorite gels.

So here's to blooming trails, beautiful views and longer rides. Ride fast, enjoy the flowers and whatever you do… don’t sneeze mid-berm !
