Well alot has happened since the last time I created a post...

But tonight on the 30 March 2022 I had my last class... After opening Fitness Fun Studio on the 20 April 2015, I have closed my doors.

Owning and running a gym has been a dream come true. I have had many ups and downs. I have gained clients and I have lost clients. I have made friends and I have built relationships. And I have learnt. And I wouldn't change a thing. I am so grateful for every client that has walked through my doors and I thank everyone for their support and their love.

There are many reasons for closing the doors but hopefully they wont be closed for long. I will keep you updated if any thing changes.

To my clients that have walked through my doors and who have stayed for a long while... I am super proud of you, of your hard work and your endurance. Keep going! You have the ground work and you will always have my support.

Do you know all the muscles that you have in your back? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If not, or even if so, -- here we go: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☝ Latissimus Dorsi (lats or wings): these muscles are the largest muscles from the back. It is responsible for the "V-taper" appearance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☝ Trapezius (Traps): these are located between your shoulder and neck. You can notice them more from the frontal view. It goes all the way down to the middle / lower back. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
☝ Rhomboids: this muscle is located in the upper part of the back underneath the trapezius. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

☝ Teres major (the little lat): this muscle is small but still important. It is located underneath the lats. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Remember, stress is a response to stimulation that makes you feel threatened and not always provoked by real circumstances, rather a perception that you are being attacked.⁣

Regardless, stress is any real or imagined threat to your body or ego. While that might mean someone putting a gun to your head, it could also mean thinking your boss is mad at you (even when they aren’t).⁣
⁣
Stress creates hormonal responses that cause weight gain and insulin resistance. Cortisol is an adrenal hormone that helps you to run faster, see further, hear better and pump fuel into your bloodstream for quick energy. It is the hormone that helps us survive in the face of true danger. It also shuts down digestion and slows your metabolism.⁣

All of this is perfectly normal in the short term, yet if left unchecked, prolonged stress and high levels of cortisol cause high blood sugar, increased belly fat, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and muscle loss. ⁣
⁣
You can’t eliminate stress completely, but you can reduce it with meditation, yoga or deep relaxation. These activities activate pathways that promote weight loss and health.⁣
