🚗 Know Our Drivers! XII

They came, they saw and they conquered! 🏆

That phrase perfectly describes the Cape Town youngsters Troy Dolinschek and John Henri Vaughan.

The duo has competed in just one round of the 2026 Backdraft Racing Series so far—and what a debut it was!

Making their first appearance at Aldo Scribante Raceway, they were thrown straight into some of the most difficult racing conditions imaginable: torrential rain! 🌧️🏁

But rather than being intimidated, they conquered the conditions and came away with a sensational victory on their debut.

Their limited participation means they currently sit 19th in the championship, but don't let that position fool you. Their one race delivered the maximum possible reward—a win!

With other racing commitments keeping them away from the series, we're hoping to see Troy and John Henri back at the season finale at Killarney International Raceway in Cape Town.

If they return, we reckon they'll once again be hometown favourites—and serious contenders for another win! 🔥🏆

🚗 Know Our Drivers! XI

We're continuing our journey through the drivers of the Backdraft Racing Series, and this time we're introducing two very different but equally talented competitors.

🏁 Mike Schmidt has been described by our Team Principal as a "technical and very talented" driver—and his results certainly reflect that.

Mike has competed in two rounds so far, sharing the car with Steve Truter and recording a 5th and 6th place finish. His results haven't necessarily come from outright speed, but from smart race craft, strategy and knowing how to manage an endurance race.

Those are exactly the core abilities needed to succeed in the Backdraft Endurance Series. We hope to see Mike back on track and able to showcase even more of his skills in the coming rounds.

🇲🇿 Andre Bettencourt hails from Mozambique and is undoubtedly one of the fastest drivers on the grid.

As the lap record holder at Maputo Raceway, Andre has already shown what he's capable of. A pole position and victory at East London are further testament to his pace and race-winning ability.

Unfortunately, his home race in Mozambique didn't go according to plan. But if anything, that will only make Andre more determined to put another victory on the board before the end of the season.

And when he's not racing, Andre is juggling his time between the track and supporting his young daughter, who is already making her own waves in karting. 🏎️🏁

🏆 ONLY WINNERS AT DEZZI RACEWAY! 🏆

A record field of Backdraft Cobras had spectators glued to the track during Round 7 of the KZN Road Racing Club Championship at Raceway.

With the usual suspects fighting for the podium, our Team Principal summed up the weekend perfectly:

“Steve Clark fiddled, Mike McLoughlin dazzled, Dan Hirsch drove like a superstar. Our new drivers all did well under intimidating circumstances. Bev Van Heerde, everyone’s favourite, achieved a personal best, as did Peter Blofield. Rob Mordaunt was quick and stable, as expected.”

But this weekend was about more than just podium positions.

With a record number of Backdraft Cobras on the grid, the championship continues to grow stronger with every round — and there are already more new competitors in the pipeline ready to join the action.

More cars. More competition. More excitement.

A weekend to remember at Dezzi Raceway. 🏁🔥

Today, we’re making history.

21 Backdraft Cobras will take to the track today — the biggest grid in the history of our series! 🔥

We kick things off bright and early with a 1-hour endurance race at 07:40, followed by three action-packed 7-lap sprint races throughout the day.

And 21 cars? We’re not stopping here.

Our goal is to keep growing the Backdraft Racing Series — bigger, better and stronger, for our drivers, teams, supporters and everyone who is part of this incredible journey.

History is being made at Dezzi Raceway today.

🚗 Know Our Drivers! XIII

Sometimes, racing luck just isn't on your side. And so far this season, that's certainly been the case for Craig Czank. ( The Czank's Racing )

Craig has competed in three of the four rounds so far, finishing 8th twice. But together with his co-driver Fabienne Lanz, the results arguably should have been much better.

His last race in Port Elizabeth certainly didn't help. Craig went home with a seriously bruised and battered Backdraft Cobra after a tough outing. 😬🔧

But we've heard a rumour...

Craig is coming back with a completely refurbished—and recoloured—car! 👀🔥

We can't wait to see it!

🏁 Denver Branders only needed one race to make his mark. Competing at East London, Denver went home with a victory on his only appearance so far this season.

But there's more to Denver than meets the eye.

He's one of the key team members behind Andre Bettencourt's successes and is also a regular fixture in the Backdraft Sprint Series at Dezzi Raceway.

Whether he's working in the pits or behind the wheel, Denver is exactly the kind of ace you want on your side of the pit wall.

One race. One win. And plenty more to come! 🏆
