Great to host another fantastic day with the team from CMH Toyota Umhlanga🇿🇦🙌

Today we welcomed the first of the new Hilux models onto the Travis Duggan 4x4 Training Facility track 💪🔥

It was great to put the vehicle through its paces and showcase just how capable it is in real off-road conditions. From technical obstacles to steep climbs and challenging terrain, the Hilux handled everything with confidence.

Most importantly, it was another epic day spent with great people, plenty of laughs, and a shared passion for adventure and 4x4 driving.

Today was one of those truly special days that reminds you what really matters in life🫶🇿🇦

I had the privilege of joining Sibusiso Shangase at his former school, Maphinda Secondary School, deep in the heart of the Valley of 1000 Hills.

After speaking with his old Headmaster and hearing that a number of learners were in desperate need of new school shoes, Sibusiso made the decision to celebrate his birthday this year by giving back and providing shoes to those children.

Watching him interact with the learners and hearing him speak to them today was incredibly inspiring. It was a powerful reminder of the impact one person can make when they never forget where they come from.

The vision you and your family have built through Mqeku Picnic Site is something truly special. It has become a genuine Valley of 1000 Hills heritage destination, welcoming visitors from across South Africa and beyond.

As I mentioned in my speech today, people travel from all over Southern Africa to experience the beauty, culture and hospitality that you have created. That is something you can be immensely proud of.

Thank you for leading by example, for investing in your community, and for showing these young people what is possible through hard work, humility and giving back.

Keep up the incredible work, my brother. The Valley is better because of people like you🇿🇦❤️

We have had a busy week 🇿🇦

I had the pleasure of conducting 4x4 Game Guide Driver Training on behalf of Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Durban North at the soon-to-open Club Med Vikela Safari Lodge 🤩
🦁🐆🐘🦏🐃

What an epic couple of days doing what I love most — delivering on-site 4x4 driver training in the field, where these skills truly matter.

The focus of the training was to prepare the incredible team of game guides for the wide range of situations they may encounter while operating on the reserve. From vehicle control and terrain assessment to safe recovery techniques and handling challenging off-road conditions, the team embraced every aspect of the programme with enthusiasm and professionalism.

Zululand is a truly special place, and it was a privilege to spend time in such a magnificent environment while helping equip the guides with the skills and confidence needed to operate safely and effectively.

A massive thank you to Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Durban North for the opportunity, and I wish the entire team at Vikela Safari Lodge every success as they prepare to welcome their first guests. The future looks incredibly exciting for this world-class destination. 🇿🇦🙌

Over the past couple of months, I have absolutely loved driving the GWM Tank 300 🇿🇦

As a 4x4 instructor working daily on my 4x4 track, my vehicle is expected to be one of the strongest off-road — and the Tank 300 has dominated every terrain and situation I have put it through💪

Having the benefit of 4L, rear and front diff locks that engage and disengage exactly when needed, Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control with multiple speed settings, and Tank Turn Assist has honestly blown me away.

On-road, the Tank has made long-distance driving an absolute breeze with features like:
✅ Adaptive Cruise Control
✅ Autonomous Emergency Braking
✅ Blind Spot Detection
✅ Traffic Sign Recognition
✅ Driver Fatigue Monitoring
✅ Automatic LED Headlights

After getting used to all these features, I joke that the Tank has made me a “bad” driver😂
When I get back into my older-technology vehicles, I pull off with the handbrake up because the Tank’s automatically releases. I also struggle to reverse confidently because I’ve become so reliant on the 360° and 540° cameras🙈

I have found the 2.4 diesel to be the perfect match for this vehicle power-wise, and I’ve been averaging 10.4L/100km — even with bigger, heavier Tyrelife Solutions Cooper tyres and a Hamer front bumper fitted.

As my time in the Tank now comes to an end, I would like to thank the GWM HAVAL Hillcrest Team for their phenomenal support. Your passion for the brand and your willingness to go the extra mile for your customers speaks volumes about the type of dealership you are🫶

Yesterday we hosted the entire Alpine Motor Group Pinetown dealers for a fun Brand Awareness and Corporate 4x4 Team Build experience at the Travis Duggan 4x4 Training Facility.

What an incredible day spent with an awesome group of people, putting a range of impressive vehicles through their paces and showcasing just how capable these brands really are both on and off the beaten track. 💪🚙

It’s always rewarding to see teams working together, building confidence, and discovering the technology and capability built into their vehicles while having plenty of fun along the way.

Another epic weekend of Driver Training at the Travis Duggan 4x4 Driver Training Facility! 🇿🇦🚙💨

This weekend we had the pleasure of hosting customers from both Bidvest McCarthy Toyota, along with a private customer group, for 2 busy days of learning, adventure, and building confidence behind the wheel.

The current winter conditions are absolutely perfect for driver training. Cooler temperatures, great traction, and clear weather create an ideal environment for mastering vehicle control, understanding 4x4 systems, and developing safe driving techniques both on and off-road.

A massive thank you to all the customers who joined us and embraced the experience with such enthusiasm. Your willingness to learn and challenge yourselves is what makes these days so rewarding.
