BAPTISM OF FIRE for the new Point GLIDE Evolution 2 single surfski.
The first production model lined up for race 1 in the DaReal downwind surfski series race yesterday. After the coastline was battered for three days by strong onshore winds it was clear that the surf and offshore conditions on the course was not going to be a picnic. A small but elite field that included the lines of Hank McGregor and Matthew Bouman got really battered in the gnarly surf launch at Umhloti. The surf capturing a few scalps. Offshore heavy swell and swirling wind made for very technical paddling and the surf beaching in Durban on a big swell and spring low tides resulted in a good few swimmers. Happy to say that for a 70 plus year old in an elite field, finishing 7th overall in a Top class field was testimony to the success of the new design of the GLIDE. I felt totally confident taking on the difficult surf launch. Had an amazing down wind run to Durban and was able to beach totally dry through a very gnarly beach break in Durban. Some pictures from the race. Tough tight launch through a very strong current and heavy surf break on a shallow bank. A smiling happy paddler at the finish.

First hatchling of our new GLIDE Evolution 2 on its way out of the factory directly on its way to the DaReel Down Wind Surfski Series race tomorrow morning.
I will do more videos over the weekend, in particular about the new FLIGHT evolution 1, which is being moulded at the moment.

Evolution Single surfski series video number 5 - We have been moving factory for the past two weeks, but we are back up and running and have got stuck in right away with the moulding of the two additional models in our single surfski range. First up the introduction of the mid range intermediate single, which after the first modification has produced a surprising result.

LAST WEEK WAS NO FLUKE! PHANTOM Single surfski - Clinton Dixon showing that his beaching after a mammoth down wind with huge swell that his smooth beaching in last week was no fluke. Clinton has a few different models and brands of surfski but the balance between speed, surfability and stability makes our PHANTOM his choice of surfski for all conditions. Siyaphambili Surfski Series -
This picture from race 3 in the series yesterday brings me a huge sense of satisfaction as a surfski designer and manufacturer. Continually trying to cater for all ability levels, creating the right craft for paddlers entering the sport, when I see this very young paddler Kirsten Holmes taking on the ocean with confidence on our entry level TIDE single surfski, you know that you have created the platform for surfski paddling to grow at any level.

PHANTOM single surfski - Clinton Dixon although fairly new to open ocean down wind surfski paddling has embraced the extreme element of surfski paddling with a passion. Having tried and tested all models of surfski, paddles and safety equipment his ski of choice is our PHANTOM single ski.
