A little setup for young cricketers to help them have a better visual understanding of football placing and were we are trying to get them to move their feet in order to have them aid their stroke selection as best we can.
Young batters generally have this conception of having to take a long stride as the catch phrase “move/ moving your feet), but what they don’t understand is that you hit the ball with you hands and not your feet. The bigger the stride is the more difficult it becomes to have your head over the ball which is your a key fundamental in not just cricket, but across pretty much every that involves a ball and more.
We look to shorten the stride and focus highly on going towards the pitch of the ball with your head being furtherest in front, ensuring good weight transfer and aiding in having better balance. This furthermore endorses having a still and level head which means you can see the ball better; enabling a much better chance of striking the ball as desired. One of links in the chain in hitting the ball as effectively and efficiently as possible.
The chalk is good over a lot of other physical objects one has used in the post, because it’s not really an obstacle and can still allow for the batter to not fixate their mind on that too much taking away the primary goal of striking the ball well. In the second frame we just see a little cage for the back foot which helps you identify if your back foot is moving or not in a way that could be detrimental to your game.
