You know you are living your dream when your deepest passion transpires into reality. I believe that the key to balancing a happy body, mind and soul comes from a deeper understanding of how and what your body needs to function at its optimum. After training as an regular client at a Pilates studio, I began realizing that my holistic approach to overall health and a uniformly sound body and mind l

ead me to a dynamic calling. I took my love for Pilates to the next level and was trained by a second generation Joseph Pilates instructor, which tutorship culminated in me becoming a qualified Classical Pilates instructor. My vision and approach to a flawless Classical Pilates technique is to use the correct tools for your body. I specialize in One-on-One Pilates whereby I consult with my clients to establish personalised, tailored goals with the vision of achieving optimal results, whether it be for toning, muscle and core endurance, increased flexibility or to strengthen and/or rehabilitate injured areas of the body. Bespoke programmes are carefully crafted on a per client basis and is cognisant of the necessity to nourish those needs through the activation of poised posture, correct breathing and complete core awareness and control. Toned calves create visual balance between your upper and lower legs. When the calves are defined, your legs look symmetrical and athletic. But getting to this point is focusing on why we strengthen calves;

• Your calves are the powerhouse of your lower legs and help you generate more force to move efficiently through performance or sports.
• Calves stabilize your ankles and feet, which also supports proper alignment in your knees and hips.
• Weak calves can lead to problems higher up or lower down the kinetic chain. Strengthening them can help prevent injuries like ankle sprains, shin splints, and Achilles tendinitis.

Core Define Pilates turns 10 years old, and to honour this milestone, I am immensely proud to celebrate my new studio space, and an expansion of equipment based Pilates classes. Its been a passion of mine for years specialising in One-on-one and duet sessions to achieve the absolute best for my clients and their needs from Pilates, but it’s now time to bring in some healthy banter, “make the circle bigger” and know someone else in class feels the burn too 🔥

The importance of foot alignment

The feet are the foundation of the body when upright (standing, walking, running, padel). Any misalignment of the feet when in motion, results in compensation all the way up the kinetic chain.

• In Pilates, the importance of foot placement on the equipment play a vital role in engaging the correct muscles required for movement.
• This constant awareness during pilates often carries through and is applied throughout daily activities
• Pilates strengthens and stretches all muscles supporting archilles tendons, toes, arches, fascia, ankles, and into the legs
• Balance and maintaining a neutral foot stance helps correct supination and pronation
