It was a great weekend in eThekwini — a weekend dedicated to the growth and development of electronic sports. The energy, talent and commitment across our communities continue to show the incredible potential of eSports in KwaZulu-Natal.

Today, KZN Esports Federation, together with Ethekwini Esports Federation, continues to strengthen wards and districts through esports activations across eThekwini.

The objective is to identify, nurture and develop emerging talent while creating opportunities for young people to participate and grow through esports.

Today, we are at District 10, continuing the journey of taking esports to every ward and building a stronger esports ecosystem across Ethekwini metro 🎮🎮

What a way to close out the second leg! 🔥

On 15 August 2026, KZN Esports Federation brought the KZN Schools E-Sports Invitational to Empangeni High School, where Empangeni High School hosted Amanzimtoti High School for the highly anticipated Final Round — Second Leg.

The competition was fierce across both titles, with the schools battling it out on PS5 in EA SPORTS FC 26 ⚽🎮 and Tekken 8 🥊🎮.

🏆 AMANZIMTOTI HIGH SCHOOL ARE THE WINNERS! 🏆

After two legs of intense competition, Amanzimtoti High School secured the overall 2-leg tie in BOTH FC26 and Tekken 8, completing a fantastic performance across the invitational.

A huge congratulations to both schools, the players, coaches, teachers and everyone who made this programme possible. 👏🔥

This is more than competition — it’s about creating opportunities, developing young talent and building the future of e-sports in KwaZulu-Natal. 🎮💛

The future of competitive gaming is being built in our schools! Today, the KZN Esports Federation in partnership with the eThekwini Esports Federation is bringing the excitement of esports to Phembisize High School under district 3 in Ethekwini Municipality with an action-packed Esports FC26 ⚽ Activation Tournament! 🎮🏆

But this is about more than winning games. 💪

These activations are an important part of developing, training and preparing young esports talent for the upcoming Provincial Esports Schools Tournament and League.

Learners are getting hands-on tournament experience, building teamwork and competitive skills, and discovering the opportunities that esports can create.

From the classroom to the competitive arena, KZN is investing in the next generation of esports players!🎮🎮

Today, the KZN Esports Federation joined the eThekwini Esports Federation for a strategic alignment meeting with the eThekwini Municipality Sports Development Unit.

The meeting was highly productive and focused on growing and developing esports across 10 district and every ward within the eThekwini Metro. We are encouraged by the warm reception from the eThekwini Municipality Sports Development Unit, which expressed its commitment to supporting the Federation by addressing challenges, collaborating on programmes, and helping drive the growth of esports in our communities.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the eThekwini Sports Confederation for facilitating this important engagement and ensuring that this meeting took place.

We believe that this partnership marks the beginning of a strong working relationship that will play a significant role in identifying, nurturing, and developing esports talent throughout the eThekwini Metro. Together, we are building a brighter future for esports and creating more opportunities for young people to excel both locally and beyond.

As part of our ongoing commitment to growing esports and developing talent at the grassroots level across every ward in KwaZulu-Natal, the KZN Esports Federation, in partnership with the eThekwini Esports Federation, is proud to host an Activation Tournament today at Umkhumbane Library, District 7.

This initiative is aimed at identifying and nurturing the next generation of esports talent while creating opportunities for young gamers to compete, connect, and grow within the esports ecosystem.

Together, we are building a stronger future for esports in KwaZulu-Natal—one community at a time.
