πŸ“’ NOTICE TO MEMBERS AND ASSOCIATES: DUDUZA RECONCILIATION PARK ACCESS

The Duduza Sport Confederation wishes to inform members and associates that despite previous stakeholder meetings and decisions to reopen, clean up and reactivate the Duduza Reconciliation Park, challenges are still being experienced regarding access to the facility.

Community clean-up activities and skateboarding programmes and other activities continue to be disrupted due to conflicting verbal instructions being issued to security personnel regarding the closure of the park.

Importantly, the call for the reopening and restoration of the Duduza Reconciliation Park has received strong support from various community stakeholders, including the MKLWV and the Class of ’76 in Duduza, who have already added their weight behind the initiative and actively started clean-up campaigns aimed at restoring the dignity and functionality of the facility.

These community-led efforts demonstrate the importance of the park as a shared public space for:
πŸ€ Sport and recreation
πŸ›Ή Youth skateboarding programmes
🎭 Arts, culture, and heritage activities
🌱 Community clean-up and restoration
🀝 Social cohesion and community pride
πŸ‘₯ Intergenerational collaboration and development

We have formally requested urgent written clarification from the relevant municipal authorities regarding:
βœ… The official status of the park
βœ… Access arrangements for the community
βœ… Clear instructions to security personnel
βœ… The continuation of community programmes and activities

The Duduza Sport Confederation remains committed to constructive engagement with all stakeholders to ensure that the park remains accessible, safe, and beneficial to the people of Duduza.

We thank the MKLWV, the Class of ’76, and volunteers for the initial clean-up, and other community members for continuing to push for the reopening of our facilities.
