Dear Mrs Solomons and the School Management of Unity Secondary School,
I trust this message finds you well.
I am writing to formally bring to your attention the circumstances of one of your learners, Siphelele βPromiseβ Mkhonza, a Grade 9D student, and to humbly request support on his behalf.
Siphelele is a dedicated and talented young footballer who has recently achieved a significant milestone. He successfully progressed to the final stage of trials at Stars of Africa Academy, where he impressed the coaching staff and has now been invited to undergo a two-week assessment period beginning today. This opportunity has the potential to shape his future both academically and professionally.
However, Sipheleleβs journey has not been without hardship. He experienced the painful loss of his mother in September last year, and his home environment has since been challenging, with instability and exposure to negative influences. Despite these difficulties, he has remained resilient, committed to his education, and focused on his development as a sportsman.
Both Garden Village Sports Academy and East Rand Excellence Sports Academy have done their utmost, within limited resources, to support Siphelele. This has included assisting with basic necessities such as school shoes, uniform, and soccer equipment when possible. While many young players face challenges, Sipheleleβs case has required special attention due to his circumstances.
We kindly appeal to the school for any form of support that may assist Siphelele during this crucial period. This could include academic support, flexibility where possible during his assessment period, or any additional resources the school may be able to provide.
Furthermore, we extend this appeal to the broader school community for any donations or assistance that could help Siphelele successfully complete his assessment at the academy. This opportunity could be life-changing for him, and with the right support, he has the potential to excel.
Siphelele has demonstrated remarkable strength, discipline, and growth despite the challenges he has faced. He remains a respectful and hardworking learner, and we believe he represents the values and potential that Unity Secondary School strives to nurture.
We sincerely appreciate your time, understanding, and any assistance you may be able to offer.
Yours faithfully,
GVSA Management
