The Premier Mine Golf Club was formed one memorable day in 1905 by a group of Premier Mine employees. As early as 1954 the course was documented as the best 9-hole layout in South Africa and celebrated accordingly. An update to the course was necessary in 1969 resulting in the club sending a letter to Bob Grimsdell (a well-known golf course architect) asking for advice. Changes were made resulting

in a newly improved golf course for the pleasure of the club members. The contemporary course is much as it was after the changes were made in 1969. In 2000 a greatly accomplished golfer in South Africa named Dale Hayes bought the golf course from Premier Mine resulting in the course being voted the best 9-hole golf course for the second time, within a year of the takeover. Dale Hayes, along with his new partners, strive to prove that any day is a perfect day to golf at Cullinan golf course. The ample clubhouse offers a neighbourly atmosphere and combined with the extravagant golf course can make any golf lovers heart race with excitement. Tom Watson communicated these wise words: “No other game combines the wonder of nature with the discipline of sport in such carefully planned way. A great golf course both frees and challenges a golfer’s mind.”

⛳ COURSE CLOSURE NOTICE ⛳

Please note that Cullinan Golf Club will be closed on Monday, 7 September and Tuesday, 8 September while our team carries out the annual hollow tining of the greens.

Hollow tining is an essential part of our maintenance programme to produce healthier, smoother putting surfaces for the months ahead.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while this important work is completed. Thank you for your continued support as we invest in providing the best possible playing conditions for our members and visitors 🏌🏼‍♂️

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of a true legend of Cullinan Golf Club, Brian Sander.

Brian joined Cullinan Golf Club in 1967, played his first Club Champs in 1968, and his last one in 2023, an incredible run of consecutive Club Champs played.
During this time, Brian won the Club Championships 6 times in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1986 and 1987.
He also achieved an incredible 10 hole-in-ones at Cullinan Golf Club, a remarkable achievement that few golfers could ever dream of.

Over the decades, Brian became part of the foundation and history of our club.

More than the records and achievements, Brian was respected as a loyal member, competitor, and familiar face around the club for decades.
His presence on the course and his contribution to the spirit of Cullinan Golf Club will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Brian’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Brian
