Welcome, mom! ♡

To our corner of Facebook where we empower struggling young people and their parents to flourish and thrive!

If there's one thing we've learned as teen resilience coaches, it's this...

Many parents of anxious teens and young adults are exhausted from tip-toeing on eggshells around their children.

Being a 24/7 therapist and punching bag.

Feeling lost, hopeless and helpless on how to help...

And often quite guilty.

But we also know that your child's feelings of confidence are linked to yours! And you're in a unique position to influence them.

So we've put together this free toolkit that will help you handle your triggers like a bad-ass anxiety-busting mom!

In it, you'll get...

✅18 Research-Based Tools for Navigating Anxiety (that we’ve handpicked for you based on their simplicity and effectiveness!)

✅The Anxiety Ratio We Wish Everyone Knew About (so that you’re empowered with a deeper understanding than most people will get about anxiety.)

✅A Two-Fold Process to Treating Your Child’s Anxiety (to give you insight into why and how these tools work.)

✅The 10 Best Supplements for Anxiety (to help you take a multi-pronged approach!); and

✅Guidance on developing an Anti-Anxiety Action Plan for your child (because it’s all about HOW you implement the tools!)

Get your copy below.

Moms…

We know how hard you can be on yourselves. And we know that this can make the parenting journey even more difficult than it already is.

So here are 7 of our favourite growth mindset hacks to help you parent with power and feel really good about it too…

1. Acknowledge and embrace imperfections.
2. View challenges as opportunities.
3. Place effort above talent.
4. Replace the word “failing” with the word “learning.”
5. Stop seeking approval.
6. Value the process over the end result.
7. Use the word “yet.” If you’d like to learn more about what we personally feel is the closest thing to rigging the game of life in your favour… And to set your teen up for greater future success.

Our expectations can either help teens flourish or stifle their development.

It can be the difference between them growing up with a healthy, resilient sense of self or…

Struggling through life with chronic low self-esteem, shame, perfectionism and poor mental well-being.

The line between what’s helpful and what’s harmful often depends on how attuned our expectations are with who they are. And not just who we want them to be.

One such expectation that honours attunement and supercharges self-esteem is…

Progress over Perfection.

This allows teens the freedom and “safety” to explore, experiment and make mistakes without the fear of constant criticism or dreaded disapproval.

It says in this house, more than achievement and the impossible standard of perfection…

We value curiosity, courage, growth, self-discovery, effort and perseverance.

A powerful set of “rules” that will serve the life-long blossoming and resilience of your young one.

Our latest guest post and blog over at Bioteen Nutrition is about helping your teen stop sabotaging their health & fitness goals, and how to stop sabotaging yours too!

When life becomes overwhelming and exhausting, we need to prioritize where our energy is spent. But instead of pushing “pause” on our health and fitness habits until life is less challenging, we can “dial down”.

Everyone is different. But say level 1 for you looks like a morning walk once a week, or a healthy breakfast everyday. Level 10 might look like hitting the gym every morning, eating healthy meals and meditating.

Instead of stopping all your habits until things become easier, you can “dial down” and “dial up” depending on what is manageable for you. Why? Firstly, it’s during times of chaos that we need to take care of ourselves the most! And second, we move from an “all-or-nothing” mentality to “always something”.

This is important because “all-or-nothing” styles impact self-worth and confidence when you’re in the “nothing” phase.

This is a fantastic method not only for your own life but lay the foundations for a happy, confident and successful teen! Read the full article on Bioteen's website here: https://bit.ly/3Dr8VmN

**Why your teen's "stress" is no joke**

Our latest partner post with Bioteen Nutrition covers how tempting it can be to brush off your teen's stress. But it doesn’t matter what age we are, stress is stress and it affects our bodies and brains in the same way. Taking it seriously and helping them manage it could prevent unhealthy coping mechanisms and anxiety disorders, mood disorders and even addiction later on. Spotting signs of stress and supporting your teen with coping skills now will give them a head start on the confidence and resilience they need to thrive.

P.S. Have you checked out Bioteen's awesome, clean & sugar-free range of teen supplements? Many of our teen clients LOVE taking Relaxify to help them calm down in the evenings and prepare for bed. If you have a stress prone teen, we highly recommend this supplement for support.

**WHY TEEN LAZINESS IS A MYTH**

Do you wish your teen would stop being so lazy and just get on with things?

What we’ve seen working with “lazy” young people at is that mostly, they’re not lazy at all.

So often, parents do more damage by calling their child lazy. And although it’s well-intended, it undermines their self esteem and misses out on understanding what the real problem is.

To learn more about why laziness is a myth, check out our latest guest video & blog post for Bioteen Nutrition!

**For parents who want to know how to raise resilient teens❤️‍🔥**

Your teen’s begun the process of pushing away. They’re ready to become their own person.

To fight this is to fight a losing battle as it may get in the way of your real goal…

Propelling them towards becoming successful, well-adjusted adults (who still love their moms).

We recently wrote a guest post on Bioteen's blog, dedicated to helping parents give their teens room to grow into empowered adults.

Learn more about how to slowly begin the painful but necessary and unavoidable process of letting go so your teen can flourish.

Welcome to the way we define resilience at F&T ❤️‍🔥

We know from both personal experience and experiences with our clients that building resilience makes THRIVING truly possible.

You know that state where you're feeling capable of handling obstacles, optimistic and hopeful about life, connected to the people around you and/or passionate about something? THAT'S thriving. And resilience can help you get there.

It's a word that's being used a lot lately, but often gets a terrible rap because of several misconceptions. But we're on a mission to change that.

Here's what resilience isn't:

❌ bouncing back

resilient people don't bounce back to where they were pre-crisis because after significant events or struggles, there is no going back. We can never be the same again. Instead, they bounce FORWARD.

❌ suppressing/not having emotions

resilient people experience the full range of emotions, but instead of giving over their control, they know how to regulate them.

❌ never giving yourself a break

resilient people know that you can be strong AND need rest, that you can be persistent in your goals AND need a break, help or support.

❌ only being tough

resilience is commonly thought of as being 'strong' or 'tough'... but it's actually even more about being FLEXIBLE & ADAPTABLE. If we try to 'tough' our way through everything, we burn out.

Sometimes, instead of being rigid, we need to be like the bough of a tree that can adapt to stormy conditions by being flexible in the wind. Otherwise, we snap.

What resilience ACTUALLY is:

✅ growing from struggle instead of being diminished by it

✅ willingness to lean into discomfort to achieve something meaningful

✅ the fire in your heart and belly to flourish & tap into your potential

✅ being adaptable & resourceful in the face of stress

✅ having a strong sense of self, confidence and self worth

✅ choosing courage over comfort

Curious about how to build it? So glad you asked! We work with teens (14-18), young adults (19-25) and adults (26-35) to help them flourish. Pop us a DM if you want to know more!

Did you have any of these misconceptions? Let us know in the comments. And know that if you do, you're not alone!

If you or your teen struggle with feeling like your emotions are getting the better of you, this is for you!

Our toxic "positive vibes only" culture leads us to see negative emotions as "wrong" or even as "failure", which makes it hard to really embrace our feelings and extract their inherent wisdom.

And with so many opportunities for distraction and numbing today, this is a skill many people are losing out on (social media, I'm looking at you!) And it's not just our young people.

When we stop long enough to take the wind out of the sails of negative emotion, we claim the parts of ourselves stuck in previous cycles and patterns. We become clearer and more in control.

The next time you or a loved one are feeling an intense/negative emotion, do this:

👄Stop for a moment and let the name of that emotion come to your lips.

Once you've found a word that fits or feels close enough to it, repeat this phrase either in your head or out loud:

🙏"I'm feeling _____ and that's ok. It's ok to feel ____ sometimes."

🔁Repeat this as many times as you need to to really drop into the feeling.

If you're angry, allow yourself to be angry. Discharge it somewhere you won't hurt anyone or break anything, like swearing out loud by yourself or punching something.

If you're anxious, let yourself be anxious. Say out loud what you're anxious about. Shout. Make a list. Shake your body. As soon as you've discharged some of that energy, you can start giving yourself important reminders like "I'm safe."

(This one is super important for parents, because raising kids who know that it's ok to feel the full spectrum of emotions leads to resilient adults.)

Remember that emotions are impermanent, so allowing yourself to feel a difficult emotion doesn't mean it'll stick around forever or that you'll get stuck in it. In fact, it'll likely mean the opposite: that you become free of it quicker than if you had continued resisting it!

Doing this will help you surrender so that the energy of the emotion can move out of your body, instead of resisting it and having it stick around for much longer than needed.

After all, what you resist, persists.

If you'd like to understand how to help your teen or young adult gain better control over your emotions and learn more about a program that can help them become more resilient and self-managing, hit us up in DMs!

And tell us, what would you like to see from us next? Overcoming social anxiety & building confidence, or neurohacking for increased motivation?
