Since the information platforms responsible for keeping the youth padel community informed have failed to communicate clearly on the following matters, we at Padel Promises SA feel it is important to provide clarity for parents, players, and the broader padel community.
There has been growing confusion around national rankings, national colours, and the current standing of SAPA, so we believe it is necessary to break things down in a transparent and factual way.
At this stage, SAPA has not yet received official sign-off or recognition from SASCOC.
What does this mean?
Simply put, until that approval process is completed, SAPA is not officially authorised to issue recognised national ranking points or award official national colours.
This does not mean that current tournaments have no value. These events still provide excellent opportunities for players to compete, gain experience, improve their game, and continue developing within the sport. The tournaments themselves can still be highly beneficial and enjoyable for all involved.
However, it is important that parents and players understand the distinction: until SASCOC approval is formally in place, there cannot officially be recognised national rankings or national colours awarded under that structure.
As Padel Promises SA, our intention is not to create negativity or division, but rather to remove the smoke screen and ensure that our community has access to clear, honest, and transparent information.
The growth of junior padel depends on trust, communication, and informed decision-making, and we believe parents and players deserve exactly that.
