Alpha Centurion Athletics Club The running club with heart. Whether you are fast or slow, young or old - this is the running club where you will become family. It was organised by Willem Louw.

The home of the Wally Hayward Marathon. Also known as ACRW
Twitter: In October 1976, a marathon was held in Verwoerdburg over 26Km, known as the Verwoerdburg Marathon. This gave rise to the thought of a local marathon club. Willem Louw and the de B**r brothers, Thys and Chris, held an inaugural meeting. Later, "Tiny" Liebenberg and Kobus Louw joined. After affiliating with another group

, they became the Verwoerdburg Athletic Club. This later changed to the Verwoerdburg Marathon Club and again later to Alpha Centurion Runners, when Verwoerdburg's name changed to Centurion. In 2010 it was decided to include "and Walkers" to the name, thus the current name Alpha Centurion Runners and Walkers (or ACRW for short)

In 2021 the name was changed to Alpha Centurion Athletics Club (or ACAC for short). This was done to include all athletic sports like Road running, Trail running, Track athletics and walking.
